With Christmas fast approaching and the decision of what gifts to get the younger family members, I was thrilled to receive ‘The Squishville Ski-Chalet’ to review.
Not heard of Squishmallows? Where have you been!!! They seem to have taken over the toy market this year! These soft, squidgy creatures – ranging from tiny pocket size to extremely large pillow types – are certainly the latest craze and are sure to be top of many children’s Christmas lists this year. Not only do these little characters have their own unique personalities, they now have their own village to live in complete with sweet shops, schools, diners and holiday accommodation!

Squishmallows have been around since 2017 and have now become an international sensation. Starting out with just eight characters, there are now over a thousand of these loveable toys. They are so soft – with a marshmallow like texture – and offer much comfort to children of all ages. There is much reported data regarding the benefit of these creatures to people with mental health issues due to the positive sensory stimulation they offer. Each one has its own name and personality traits which makes them seem so individual. The smaller ones are popular as ‘fidget friends’ due to their tactile feel. A look on the amazing Squishmallow’s website will give you all the information you require about any of the creatures.
Not limited to actual toys, Squishmallows now appear in films, on tv and in video games – look out for a planned Squishmallows live tour which is being planned!!!
The Squishville Ski-Chalet which I received to review was amazing. Presented in a very eye – catching box, you can immediately see the fun that was in store. The chalet was strongly constructed with three rooms inside, each adorned with colourful, soft fabric. In the lounge was a welcoming illustration of a log fire and a comfy chair for the characters to relax and enjoy their après-ski, while in the porch area you could see all their discarded skis and outer wear. The outside was so well thought out with snow features and ski slopes that could be used with the four characters.
My granddaughters are totally Squishmallow obsessed and this ski chalet was brilliant for them. They soon had the four included characters – Cam, Fifi, Winston and Lola (a certain favourite as she shares my granddaughter’s name!) – out of the box and had them skiing and snowboarding down the slopes. They loved the Snowman outfit and the ski and snowboard accessories in which the animals could sit. Each item was so well made and so much thought had gone into the product to get the maximum play value from the toy.
It was advised to hand wash the characters if needed and to let them air-dry. They also have a recommended suitable age of three years due to some small parts in their construction.
This is certainly an amazing addition to the ever expanding collection of Squishmallows available. As a Christmas gift this is sure to be an instant hit. Whether it is a first Squishville item or an addition to an existing collection, there will definitely be some happy children when they receive this on Christmas morning.
