It’s somehow almost December already so we have been browsing all the many advent calendar options. There are so many different ones to pick. From toys to beauty items, from alcohol drinks to socks. There’s an advent calendar for absolutely everything. But there’s nothing like a classic sweet treat advent calendar. Even with those there are numerous choices making it so hard to decide.
As a family of four we often each pick something different, adults too, that we can then open each morning as a little morning treat. My eldest son follows a vegan diet and it used to be hard to find him vegan brands so that he doesn’t miss out, especially at Christmas. But there are so many vegan options available now.
We have been sent an advent calendar from Pip and Nut to sample. Pip and Nut’s sell-out dark chocolate nut butter cup advent calendar is back for 2022. And it’s vegan friendly! As well as this it can also boast ethical chocolate, real nut butter, no palm oil and gluten free.
I was amazed when the advent calendar arrived. It is huge! The shiny, gold design is gorgeous and so Christmassy. The front is covered in cartoon doodles of London landmarks. On the back is a ‘Twas The Night Before Christmas inspired nut butter rhyme. As well as being attractive the packaging, both the box and the tray inside, can be fully recycled after Christmas.
The advent calendar is certainly lovely to look at but it needs to taste just as good. The box is quite heavy and it’s not surprising as it contains 24 nut butter cups and each one is a big 17g piece. The nut butter cups come in two flavours. There are 12 dark chocolate with peanut butter cups and 12 dark chocolate with almond butter cups.
I know I know it’s not quite December yet. But I needed to taste test these. Both flavours are absolutely delicious. The dark chocolate on both is a thick, rich layer. The peanut butter cups were lovely and tasted similar to others I’ve eaten before, despite these being vegan. But my favourite are definitely the almond butter cups. I will be very happy on the days I open a door to find that flavour. I’m a big fan of almonds anyway and often buy jars of almond butter to slather on crackers. The almonds in these give them a distinct, lovely flavour. They are both very rich tasting, so these are perfect sized portions. I have very much enjoyed them and letting the dark chocolate melt in my mouth.
The Pip and Nut Nut Butter Cup Advent Calendar is rather pricey, retailing at £20.00. It does taste fantastic though and it looks good displayed among our Christmas decorations with its gold design. I would definitely choose this again. It’s perfect I’d you are looking for a classic chocolate advent calendar but want something a little more luxurious and special.
