I am not so sure the Realikids Cam Waterproof 2 camera made by AGFAPHOTO is for children age five years and up, as my other half has just spent ages playing with all the many features. He is living his best life, I am not so sure he is going to let our grandson keep it!
One really important thing to know when purchasing this wonderful camera for children is it needs a micro memory card otherwise it will not save any pictures taken. That aside, this is a really wonderful way to introduce children to photography. The camera is waterproof up to 3 metres, so they absolutely can fun taking pictures at the pool or beach on your next holiday. It seems sturdy enough and looks like it will withstand little hands that may drop it more than a few times!
In the age of very technically able children, we think our youngest grandchildren will absolutely love this camera. It comes in a range of three colours which are all lovely, we have the black and orange, which would be suitable for either a boy or girl. The camera is packed with features. It will take videos and photographs, there is also a range of photo filters, which will I am very sure results in lots of fun framing images they have taken themselves. There is also a selfie mode, even at five years old, our grandchildren love taking their own photos. It’s super easy to use, well it must be if I can use it! There is a games mode also, with three games to choose from, all easily navigated to. There is a setting for photo albums as well.
The only thing missing for us is a camera wrist strap, there is the facility to attach one. The camera comes with its own charging cable and also has the option to screw in a selfie stick or tripod. There is a battery level icon, so it will tell you when you need to recharge, we haven’t yet worked out how long the battery will last, using a cable to charge though is less costly than buying new batteries.
It really is a lovely size with a 2.8 inch screen, photos can be in colour or black and white. We don’t think you would have to be particularly creative to enjoy taking and framing your own pictures. Most children already do this using their parents’ phones or iPads, so for an introduction to cameras and making it fun and interactive, what’s not to love. Children are not flustered by technology like us adults, they will soon master this camera and we will enjoy taking their photos off the memory card and actually getting them printed for the grandchildren, hopefully helping them enjoy capturing memories from a very young age. It’s a great fun camera at a reasonable price, it’s most definitely going to be much enjoyed in our family.
