I am not new to smartwatches, I had one a few years back when they were a novelty and everybody wanted to try one. It wasn’t cheap and at the time I just saw it as a shiny new gadget and enjoyed playing with all the features it had to offer just because I could! It wasn’t until I smashed it and couldn’t afford to replace it that I realised how useful it was and have yearned for another ever since.

Fast forward to today and the Tozo S8 Aura on my arm! I’m not going to lie, until now I wrongly assumed that paying for big brand watches was the way to go and there is no way a cheaper, lesser known brand would meet my needs and perform anywhere near as good as the one I was used to in my previous dalliance. Spoiler alert……how wrong I was!! Seven days in and I am loving this watch, kicking myself that brand snobbery or a lack of education and awareness had clouded my judgment until now.

The Tozo S8 Aura is a beautiful looking watch with a large circular face, perfect for any occasion. It certainly doesn’t look cheap and nasty and is really comfortable to wear. I have the white plastic strap – it is available in metal, faux leather and a black plastic strap, but it is a soft silicon fabric so not at all irritating on my skin. There are lots of different designs you can change the interactive face to, so if going smart for an evening you can have an elegant clockwork face, for everyday wear I have a cute under the sea scene and apparently you can personalise with a photo which I am yet to try, but my dog will definitely be featuring soon (much to my husband’s dismay)!

The watch connects via Bluetooth to most iOS and android devices. It took me less than 10 minutes to unpack and set up, possibly one of the easiest electronics set-ups I’ve ever done. All instructions are explained very clearly and there is a QR code to scan in order to download and register on the app. The watch comes with its own charger (USB) and boasts an incredible 10 day battery life. So far I have charged once in a week, and that was when I first got it.

The main selling point of most smart watches is the tracking of health and exercise. It can log your steps, your exercise, your heart rate etc, and remind you to drink water, track your calories and set goals for you. I would imagine you would find it useful as a runner, cyclist or gym goer for example. I am none of these things, although I do like to track the distance I walk with the dog. This doesn’t mean I am out of the market for a smart watch!

The biggest plus of it for me is the reduced need to constantly get my phone out, especially when I am with family, or walking in a busy place such as London where phone theft is rife! Think how many times a day we get our phone out just to check the time, see who is calling or what that ping notification was for. Nine times out of ten it is a spam call or an advertising message coming through and certainly doesn’t need my undivided attention whilst I am playing with my daughter in the park. I love the fact that I now filter out these unwanted interruptions with a quick look at my watch and carry on with my day. Most of my apps are supported so I get my email, Ring, social media and bank notifications plus many more straight to my wrist and my phone stays firmly planted in my handbag.

The Tozo S8 Aura smartwatch has won me over as a very affordable, attractive and functional smart watch. If I am as careless with this one as I was with my last and it goes to the great watch heaven in the sky, I wouldn’t hesitate about buying another one! They are currently on sale for less than £50 and as there are so many positives with this watch and I have yet to find a negative, I would say it makes it a winner!
