Our family LOVES game nights and we are always looking for new ones to try out. When given the opportunity to try out and review a new family game I put my name down straight away. I wasn’t sure what would arrive so didn’t really know what to expect. I was not disappointed with ‘Pose Off’ and we have played it multiple times over the last week.

With two little boys aged 5 and 3 years old it is sometimes hard to find a game that they both like to play together. Most games are either too hard for the little one or too easy for the bigger one and always too easy for mom and dad. Pose Off is a great game that children of all ages and adults can play together and everyone can have fun at the same time.

The game is advertised for 2-4 players aged 4+ however I found that my 3 year old could play just fine with some adjustments. It can also be played with more than 4 players by forming teams. The game comes with 4 Pose off Mats, 80 Challenge Cards and 20 Pose Cards. You could also write your own challenge cards to add in if you wanted to. The instructions were fixed to the box which is a great idea because we are always losing the instructions for games! To play the game each player stands on their own Pose Mat and a Pose Card is turned over showing which Pose all players must hold. They are all yoga poses and are easily shown with cartoon people doing the pose (Downward Dog, Cow, Warrior 1, Plank etc.). Then a Challenge card is turned over and players take turns to answer the task on the car. (For example, ‘Take turns to name something you would eat at… Christmas or Take turns to name something that rhymes with ‘Ate’). The game continues clockwise with each player answering the question until someone either repeats an answer, stumbles and comes out of their pose or hesitates in providing an answer. The last person standing wins the round and the challenge card. The first player to win 3 Pose Cards is the winner. These are the official rules however with two young kids who HATE to lose we all would do the pose and then take turns to answer the task. We didn’t have a winner each round or overall . Everyone had fun and not one game ended in tears, which really is a miracle!!

We have also used it throughout the week with just the ‘Pose’ cards to do the different yoga poses and my boys enjoyed this too! With the potential of a long winter inside due to coronavirus Pose Off would be the perfect Christmas present. It gave a different take to the traditional board game by getting everyone up moving and having fun together. I would give it 5 out of 5 stars and will definitely be buying it for some of our friends’ children for Christmas.
