My husband and I opted for the Pork Schnitzel Sandwich, paired with the Whiskey Apple Mule, eager to experience their twist on classic German fare.
The Pork Schnitzel Sandwich was a delightful take on a traditional German dish. The schnitzel itself was perfectly breaded, with a golden, crispy exterior encasing a juicy, tender pork cutlet. The meat was cooked just right, maintaining its moisture and flavour while the crunchy breading added a satisfying texture to every bite. It was evident that the kitchen placed emphasis on freshness, as the pork tasted flavourful and well-seasoned, without being overly greasy or heavy.
What made the sandwich stand out were the thoughtful accompaniments. The sandwich was layered with a tangy mustard sauce, adding just the right kick of acidity to balance the richness of the pork. Crisp lettuce and a fresh bun completed the ensemble, providing a fresh, light counterpoint to the schnitzel. The bun itself was soft yet sturdy enough to hold everything together, which made for an easy, enjoyable eating experience without the sandwich falling apart.
Served with a generous portion of golden fries, the side dish was the perfect complement—crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. The fries were lightly seasoned, providing a simple but delicious pairing to the main course without overpowering the flavours of the sandwich. Altogether, the Pork Schnitzel Sandwich was a satisfying, hearty meal with a playful Oktoberfest twist.
Our choice of cocktail, the Whiskey Apple Mule, was a fantastic accompaniment to the meal, offering a refreshing contrast to the rich flavours of the schnitzel. This drink combined the smooth, warming taste of whiskey with the sweetness of fresh apple and the sharp zing of ginger beer. The balance of flavours was well thought out, as none of the ingredients overpowered the others. Instead, the cocktail delivered a harmonious blend of sweet, spicy, and slightly tart notes.
Served in a traditional mule mug, the drink stayed cool throughout the meal and had a nice, crisp finish. The Whiskey Apple Mule was light enough to enjoy alongside a heavier dish like the schnitzel without being overwhelming, and its autumnal flavours really brought the essence of Oktoberfest to the table.
