I reviewed GetGo Thomas the Tank Engine Wendy House Play Tent with the help of my train mad 2½ year old who was a big fan.
The tent is a pop up tent with a pole in the roof, this makes it incredibly easy to assemble, it is made from a lightweight fabric which means it is easy to transport and store as it folds down small. The tent measures 102cm in height, 72cm in width and 72cm in depth, which is a great size for play in the nursery or playroom without dominating the room. It also makes it suitable for those with limited space.
The first thing that I noticed about this tent was the bright character panels – which featured a large picture of Thomas. My son was so excited about going in the Thomas tent so it certainly had appeal to young children. A lovely touch was that the ground floor of the tent actually is a map of the Island of Sodor, my son literally had hours of fun running his trains around inside the tent. He also loved the fact there is a porthole in the roof making it easy for him to look out of an as a parent it was great being able to check on him easily without having to interrupt his play.
The only negatives I have about this tent is elements like the floor are really appealing to children but the size of the tent means that only one child can really play in it at a time. Also because my son wanted to play trains within the tent it meant he was moving around quite a lot meaning the tent moved around lots and nearly tipped at one point. I think in time he will get used to the space but I think it the tent would benefit from extra poles in the corners to add a bit more stability.
All in all this tent offers just what you want from a play tent, it is easy to assemble, small to transport and most importantly has lots appeal to the age range its intended for. There are several different character type tents available in this range.
