There is a huge amount of choice when it comes to buying baby blankets so they need to stand out to catch your attention and THEIR FUTURE baby blanket definitely does that.  Not by being bright and colourful but by being designed with the environment in mind.

When you first go on the website there is a tagline which says “This is the world’s only truly recyclable baby blanket”.  It then goes on to explain that it is fully recyclable as not only is it made from fully recyclable material but once you are done with the blanket they invite you to return it to them.  I am going to be honest and say I don’t know how many blankets would get returned to them as there is no return label or postal address given in the package.  To get their address you need to go to the website and enter your email address to get a login code which is a bit time consuming but I do love the idea that when you are finished with the blanket it can be remade into a new blanket for someone else’s baby!

As well as being fully recyclable the blankets are manufactured using a process called “Nylstar’s technology” which aims to minimise the impact on the environment by ensuring minimal water consumption, the absence of chemicals and prevents the release of microfibres so they really have thought of everything to be as sustainable as possible.

Also in case you needed another excuse to buy one, £1 of every blanket purchase is donated to Borne, a charity which funds groundbreaking research in pregnancy and childbirth.

When the blanket arrived I was pleased to find it came in a simple cardboard box which said that all their packaging is plastic free, biodegradable, compostable and 100% recyclable showing that the sustainability theme runs through everything they do.  Although it is a simple cardboard box it still looks smart and when you open it, the blanket is beautifully wrapped in green tissue.  But there is no point being fully sustainable if it isn’t soft to the touch and well made and luckily this blanket is both!  It is a pretty ivory colour which is super soft and lightweight.  At the moment THEIR FUTURE does not do any other products or colours (although this neutral colour would go with everything) but on the website it does say that more colours and sizes will be out soon.

Christmas is just around the corner and this would be such a lovely Christmas gift for anyone who is expecting a baby or who has just given birth.  It can be really tough to know what to buy for them but this is perfect as more and more people are thinking about the impact of the environment and how important it is to conserve it for future generations.
