A hilariously funny slapstick comedy musical version of Dracula.

Performed by a cast of 3 men playing several parts (including women), extremely well acted, extremely funny and some interaction with the audience.

Performed at the Hen and Chickens Theatre Bar in Highbury, London. A small, intimate 54 seat theatre above the Victorian bar.

After arriving at the Victorian bar on Highbury we ordered our drinks and went upstairs to the theatre. We were greeted and the door and given a box of chocolates ‘with love from Vlad’ and directed to seats in the front row. As there is no stage the actors stand in front of you to perform and involve the audience when needed. As it is only a 54 seat venue it has an unrestricted view no matter where you sit.

As the show started with 3 men coming out from behind the curtain walking very slowly to the audience leaving you wondering what they were going to do to the audience.

It starts with Jonathan Harker (Sam Dunham) having to go to Transylvania on business for Count Dracula. Count Dracula (Jack Faires) wants to buy some property in England as he wants to get into a West End musical by Andrew Lloyd Webber, marry Lucy and take over the world. Harker and Van Helsing (Simon Naylor) have to try and stop this, but will they succeed?

The play lasts about an hour and is consistently humorous and the musical numbers are pop songs that you know reworded to make them funny (such as Suck Him and Lady Gaga). It is very well acted, very funny, the musical numbers are great and overall very enjoyable. The actors use the audience by getting them to hold props for use later in the performance. At one point Harker sat down in the front row and put his legs across another audience member while continuing with the play.

I would recommend this play and can see it being a big hit. If you love slapstick comedy get to London and  see this show.
