Unique Wedding Gift Ideas

With wedding season generally running from May to October, you may well still have a few to attend this year. And as lovely as weddings are, one thing that can often leave guests stumped is what to buy for a wedding gift. Some couples will have a gift registry, but for others you’re left to think for yourself. Wedding gifts have changed in modern times. Since most couples live together before getting married, things like kitchen appliances are less in demand since they’re not building up a home from scratch. So what exactly do you give? If you don’t want to end up giving the same gift as everyone else, here are a few slightly more original ideas.

Personalised Gifts

Personalised gifts are always more special. They show you’ve gone out of your way to make a gift unique, rather than just picking up something generic off the shelves. It could be anything from personalised bath towels to robes to champagne glasses. These are the things most couples will use and enjoy, and make for a special wedding gift.

Homemade Wedding Gifts

This is a route a lot of people don’t think to take when it comes to wedding gifts. But if you’re good at something, why not? You can produce something that’s completely unique, any couple will be sure to appreciate the effort put it. A scrapbook, for example, would be a fantastic way to put together photos and memories in a creative way, which would make a really heartfelt gift. If you’re not particularly crafty, you can still get the homemade and personal quality by putting together something like a just married ‘hamper.’ This could contain things like chocolate, champagne and any cute little extras you can find that the married couple will enjoy.

A Piece of Art

This could be a good way to go, as it’s something that will last and can be displayed in the couple’s home. You could commission an artist to sketch or paint a picture of them, places like Etsy offer this. You could get a designer to create a unique graphic print or design that could be framed for a unique, one-off piece. Alternatively, you could go with something like a ‘memorable map’ print to highlight some of the important places in their life. It’s a bit different but incredibly thoughtful and special.

An Experience Day

Instead of buying a physical item, why not treat the newlyweds to an experience day? It could be anything from afternoon tea to a day at a spa; there are loads of things out there that are romantic or fun for couples. Plus there are experience days suitable for all budgets too, so you can go down this route without breaking the bank. It gives them a chance to go out and have fun, and try something different as a newly married couple.

Do you have any weddings still to attend this year? If so, have you started thinking about what gift you’re going to give yet?
