A Special Christmas with a bit of help from Getting Personal Review

Reviewed by Debbie Talbot
This Christmas is an extra special Christmas for us as a family this year. I have therefore been pulling out all the stops to give my children a Christmas to remember for a long time. I was absolutely delighted when Getting Personal offered some Christmas gift themed products to review, especially given that any of their products we have reviewed in the past have been so well made.

The first item I chose was a Personalised Velvet Jewellery Box with Hidden Message (RRP: £36.99). The jewellery box arrived in perfect condition. The one we received was a beautiful grey colour and my teenage daughter’s face lit up when she saw it. A few days later I have borrowed it back off of her to write up the review and it is full of her jewellery. What I love most about it is that you can personalise it with your own message. Being a self-confessed soppy mum, I opted for a not too soppy ‘Sparkle Every Day, Love Mum’ message which is printed on the flap of the jewellery box in sparkly silver.
The box itself is the perfect size to keep in her bedroom, large enough to be practical, but not too big that it takes up too much space. Our favourite part of it is definitely the two drawers. They are big enough to hold plenty of necklaces or bracelets. My daughter is using the top middle compartment to hold her earrings at the moment. She now has rings on her wish list as the outer parts of the top compartment are built to hold rings.
The mirror is the perfect size to use when applying make-up, brushing your hair or putting in your earrings. When the lid is opened it stays in place, there’s nothing worse than the mirror part closing mid make-up application. The catches which open and close the jewellery box are easy to use. It feels so soft to touch and I love the carry handle on the top.
The jewellery box even comes with two keys which is great as you can lock away your prized possessions.
This would make a perfect Christmas Gift for someone special in your life or even as a special treat for yourself.

The second item we received to review is a ‘How T and J saved Christmas Eve’ personalised book by Lucy Tapper and Steve Wilson. Please note that for the purposes of this review I have used my twin sons initials and not their full first names. This book arrived in a perfectly sized envelope marked ‘A Book for Christmas Eve’. I think that this book will be our go to book not just this Christmas Eve but in future years.
The artwork is simply stunning. It’s a story about a little mouse called Mistletoe. This mouse is not just any mouse though. Mistletoe is a magical mouse. I don’t want to tell you the whole story and ruin it, but the way my little boys’ names and our hometown has been incorporated into the book makes it even more special. I cannot wait to read this to them on Christmas Eve, or them to me as often happens these days. This book would make such a special gift for a child or children in your life. You can actually add up to 4 names. With a RRP of £19.99 it is well worth every penny.

The third item we received was a Personalised Giant Chocolate Cookie (RRP: £9.99). You can personalise it with any message. My daughter opted to personalise it for a school friend’s birthday, but it would be equally great as an inexpensive Christmas Gift. At £9.99 it would be great as a Secret Santa present. I was a bit worried that it may get damaged during transit, but I need not have worried. It arrived well packaged in perfect condition. At 7” it is the perfect size for someone to enjoy. It has a 14-day shelf life, which I think is generous and ample for when planning for a special occasion. It even comes in a letterbox style box, so no worry about if someone is going to be out when it’s delivered. I am told it tasted delicious and that her school friend was delighted with it.

The last item we received was most special. My daughter has had a bath and body style advent calendar on her wish list for a few years so she was over the moon with her 24 Day Bath and Body Advent Calendar. I tend to get my children a chocolate advent calendar every year. I am now converted. I cannot believe how much you get for the price. 24 days of bath and body treats for just £19.99. That is less than £1 per day. My daughter has really enjoyed opening her calendar (yes, early when you have a mum who writes reviews).
The contents (details obtained from the Getting Personal website) are:
Contents:
- 3x 20ml bath jelly (lemongrass & green tea, hibiscus & acai berry tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 3x 20ml body lotion (lemongrass & green tea, hibiscus & acai berry tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 3x 20ml shower gel (lemongrass & green tea, hibiscus & acai berry tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 2x 20ml gel scrub (lemongrass & green tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 2x 20ml hand cream (hibiscus & acai berry tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 3x 40g bath t-bag (lemongrass & green tea, hibiscus & acai berry tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 3x 20g bath fizzer (single colour) (lemongrass & green tea, hibiscus & acai berry tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 3x bath pearl cylinders (containing 2 x oil pearls) (lemongrass & green tea, hibiscus & acai berry tea, Moroccan mint tea)
- 1x 65ml shower gel (hibiscus & acai berry tea)
- 1x pink shower puff

My daughter has really enjoyed pampering herself with the contents of the calendar. The smells are lovely too, not too overpowering.
I am now even more a fan of the wonder that is www.gettingpersonal.co.uk and it will be one of my go-to places for gifts going forward. All of the gifts we received came to under £100 which for the quality of items received is excellent value.
