Dinky’s Tales is a children’s picture book series about a group of magical toy animals
and their wonderful adventures.

Dinky is a small brown mouse with big ears and a long tail. This series of books tell you of his life from the beginning and all the adventures he encounters along the way.

In Dinky’s Tales: A Wedding Celebration the toy animals are first separated but are soon reunited and then are involved with the excitement of a wedding party. Most of the animals in these stories are friendly, but you are always going to get a baddie. In these books the baddie is a rat called Gary along with his naughty rat friends.

Dinky’s Tales are a series of books that carry on from one book to another, making sure to leave the last page on a cliffhanger. Children will want to read the next one to find out what happens next. The books are written in the classic style in which storybooks used to be written.

Harriet M Harris loves all animals and looks after dogs when their owners go away on holiday. As a result, she always has a little time to write during the year. Her writing really started when Covid arrived, and we were in lockdown. The stories started to flow.

Harriet explains: “I had been thinking about writing children’s books for years so when Covid struck, this was my opportunity. In order to write the books, I talk to the animals as if they are real – it’s the only way you can imagine their response! After all, this is what children do when they are at play, something I have witnessed many times before. And it’s so much fun!”
