As a mom of two little ones—a 7-year-old who’s a budding artist and a 4-year-old who loves to try everything their older sibling does—I’m always on the lookout for toys that are not only fun but also encourage creativity and skill-building. When I came across the SuperGraph Drawing System, I knew it was something we had to try.
The SuperGraph is an innovative drawing tool designed to make copying and tracing easy and fun. It works by placing a picture into the clip-on support, when looking through the optical viewer the image appears as if it’s on your paper, ready to trace. It works with tablets, too. You can trace directly from your device or use the free app to draw on your tablet (iOS and Android compatible). It’s lightweight, portable, and doesn’t require batteries—a big win as I’m constantly running out of them!
Setting it up was fairly straightforward, though I did struggle a bit when converting it into its carry-case mode. It feels durable and stable, which is reassuring when little hands are involved. I do think the design could be less chunky and slightly more streamlined for older kids, but that’s a minor quibble considering its affordable price point.
The box says it’s suitable for ages 8 and up, but my 7-year-old jumped right in and loved it from the get-go. Even my 4-year-old has started to enjoy it, though their focus is more on the process than the outcome (as you’d expect). It’s one of those rare toys that grows with your kids, as they can use it to improve their skills over time.
Downloading the free app was a simple. Initially, I misunderstood its purpose—I thought it would offer ideas and templates to draw—but it’s actually a digital drawing tool. You can sketch directly on your tablet, save creations to a gallery, and even edit them later. It saves having lots of paper picture’s laying around, or on the fridge! And the kids found it fun to draw pictures that would soon appear on my phone.
The possibilities are limitless of what you can draw, and my kids have had fun finding weird and wonderful things. I’ve noticed a real confidence boost in their drawing skills as it has helped them get better at proportions and finer details.
It can be purchased directly from the John Adams website SuperGraph – John Adams but is widely stocked at other retailers. At £29.99 its excellent value for money. It has provided hours of entertainment and creativity, making it a fantastic choice for birthdays, Christmas, or just because.
The SuperGraph has been a wonderful addition to our playtime. It’s easy to use, sparks creativity, and offers endless possibilities for kids who love to draw. While there’s room for minor improvements (e.g., a sleeker design for older kids), it’s hard to beat for the price.
I would highly recommend this product if you’ve got a little artist at home, this is one gift that will keep them happily engaged for hours. A big 4 out of five stars.
