As you can imagine with a large family there is always plenty of baking and cooking going on in my house, so I was pleased to be asked to review these handy 100ml bottles of oils from Steenbergs Organics.
A must for every cooks kitchen, as this a very versatile product.
Each bottle label is a different colour and states clearly in bold white letters which extract it contains.
Organic Peppermint Extract– I used this in peppermint creams, lovely result! I also made peppermint tea, great taste, much better than the tea bags.
Organic Rose Water– I struggled to think what I would use this in, so I looked on the Steenbergs website for suggestions, amongst these there was an idea to sprinkle over fruit, so I did just that!! It went down a storm on the strawberries and oranges.
Organic Fairtrade Vanilla Extract– this is the extract that I used mostly in my recipes, I have tried many different companies and this is most definitely the best, added to whipped cream and then top of your hot chocolate, you won’t be disappointed. I also made queen of puddings, which is an old family favourite.
Organic Lemon Extract– I noticed that this one is made with sunflower oil, so ideal for frying, therefore lemon chicken it was. Wow, what a dish, no sooner had it gone I was being asked when we will be having it again! I’m going to do a lemon drizzle cake next with it and maybe try a stir fry?
Natural Almond Extract– one of my favourite tastes and smells, I often use in bakewell tarts , and of course marzipan for Christmas cakes, I just needed to add the aroma from this product which is divine. I also added a couple of drops to my coffee for a bit of extra flavouring.
Organic Orange – this is also sunflower based so an idea would be a duck dish. As we don’t have duck often I used in my custard, delicious added flavor, also a small amount in Greek yoghurt was a nice touch.
Overall, excellent products that I will be recommending to family and friends. As a very good extract, I would suggest that less is best, thus making it value for money too.
