Skip Hop is a company that that I am starting to see a lot more in recent years. Their designs feature animated animals and lovely bright colours. I think their designs are super cute so when given the chance to review two of their baby toys I was very excited. The Jitter Sloth and the Toucan Maraca are part of the Tropical Paradise line which include lots of toys from birth onwards.
I love the idea of giving these two toys together as one gift because of their different age ranges. The Jitter Sloth is aimed at children from newborn onwards and the Toucan Maraca is aimed at babies 6 months and up. When given as part of the same gift you are giving a toy that will grow with the baby. Even my older boys loved exploring the toys. Both toys are in pastel greens, yellows oranges which are perfect gender-neutral colours. I personally love giving and receiving gender neutral gifts because they can easily be handed down! Plus, you can plan ahead even if you don’t know the gender of the baby.
I will start with the Jitter Sloth, as stated above it is aimed at children from birth onwards. It has a ring on the top which allows the toy to be clipped to a pram or pushchair. The sloth is so adorable and the contrast colours of the leaves and teether are warm and inviting. The sloth is made out of very soft material and is spot clean only while the teether at the bottom can be more thoroughly cleaned. The teether attached also has lines and bumps which allows baby to explore different textures. When you pull the teether down and let go it makes the sloth toy vibrate for a few seconds which babies love to feel the vibrations. My friend’s little boy who is 3 months old loved the vibrations and feeling it vibrate against his hands and tummy.
The Toucan Maraca is aimed at children 6 months+ which is the perfect follow on toy from the Jitter Sloth. The Toucan is designed in warm pastel colours sitting on a stick which is chunky enough for a baby to grasp and hold on to. It is made from hard smooth plastic which can be easily washed or wiped down. The rattle noise is loud and effective helping to develop baby’s gross and sensory motor skills. It has a ring on the bottom which you could attach to a highchair or pushchair using a clip – ready for the 100th game of drop the toy!
Overall, I think both toys are lovely and would make a great gift for a new baby. You could give these together as one gift or separately. I would rate both toys 5/5 stars. They are available at many stores including Amazon and Jojo Maman Bebe. The Jitter Sloth has a RRP of £10 and the Toucan Maraca is £8.
