Melissa And Doug Camp Stove Playset And Camp Music Playset Review

This week when a very large cardboard box arrived I was very excited when I saw we had received the Melissa & Doug Camp Stove Playset and the Melissa & Doug Let’s Explore Camp Music Playset. Both of which are suitable for 3+ years. My initial reaction when I opened the box was ‘wow’ as the toys looked amazing, especially the camp stove set. I couldn’t wait for my children to open them because I wanted to have a play too! We already have a lot of Melissa & Doug toys and always find them high quality, fun and great at sparking my children’s imaginations.

First we opened up the Camp Stove Playset. The stove itself is wooden and painted with a very high quality finish. There are 24 accessories included altogether which fit inside the box. There is a mix of wooden and felt play food which can be ‘cooked’ on the camp stove. My children straight away became imaginative using the moveable dials and utensils to dish me up a meal cooked on the grill. There is even a kettle, plates, cutlery and cups included. The set really comes with everything they needed but they excitedly added in our other Melissa & Doug wooden play food too. Role play is one of my sons’ favourite activities and is really helpful for children’s development.

With there still being some end of Summer sun we have been enjoying camping trips with all the family. The Melissa & Doug Camp Stove set is a great toy to bring along with us. Little ones love to mimic us adults and soon enough my son was cooking up sausages on his stove, stirring and flipping and serving us through the tent window as though it was his cafe. There is even a menu included! It’s a really ideal toy to transport as it quickly tidies away, storing the pieces inside.

Whilst we are camping another pastime we enjoy is having some music on whilst we sit around our campfire. So the Melissa & Doug Camp Music Playset was another great toy to bring along with us. The children and adults alike enjoyed having a go with all the instruments and having a little sing song using the songbook provided. The Camp Music Set includes ten musical instruments made from a mix of wood and metal. Plus there is a tote bag which the instruments can be stored in for easy storage. The instruments include guiro and scraper, triangle, kazoo, castanets, mallet and tambourine. Each one is very well made, they look like they are long lasting and will withstand a lot of play from my boys. The favourite was definitely the tambourine.

Overall we are yet again so happy with these toys. The Melissa and Doug brand is one we know we can trust and won’t be disappointed. The American company run by a husband and wife team takes great care in creating toys to ignite imagination.
