Everyone has someone who is difficult to know what to buy for Christmas, and my young adult son is my person. I was at a loss as to what to buy him for Christmas when I was given the opportunity to review the King C Gillette beard and moustache trimmer. With the current trend for ‘manscaping’ and the fashion for facial hair, this is an ideal gift and something which he really loved but also found useful and would use a few times each week.
The trimmer arrived, quickly in just a few days and well packaged. The outer packaging looked a little more high end than your average beard trimmer, named after the Gillette brands founder and developed in conjunction with Braun, two very well-known and trusted brands.
On unboxing the trimmer, we found it came with three comb attachments which are interchangeable for use with different length facial hair. The trimmer itself is a good weigh, it fees sturdy and solid, but not too heavy and it feels quite ergonomically designed, with a dimpled hand grip making it comfortable to use. The only downside is that the trimmer doesn’t come with a storage box/case. This would be great to keep all the bits and pieces together, but it doesn’t really detract from the trimmer.
We found it really easy to change the combs, by simply sliding them on and off depending on the length of your facial hair. The two combs for use with a longer beard were also adjustable so you can get the exact trim you like. The shorter comb is for trimming hair to about 1mm so great for a designer stubble look. The combs have a curved shape, which means they trim easily, following the contours of your face, even in the more difficult to reach areas around the neck and jaw (or so my son tells me). The beard and moustache trimmer is easy to use with a simple sliding on off switch on the handle. My son’s preferred attachment was the short beard combe and he found this gave him the style he liked. He was also able to use the trimmer without any attachment to shape and define the edges of his beard, although this may depend on how brave you feel doing this free hand.

After use, the trimmer and the combs can be cleaned with a small brush that is provided and the combe can be washed under the tap for ease (make sure they are dry before reattaching).
The trimmer also comes with its own mains charger (with a proper plug, not a shaver plug) and although the charge time can take a few hours to achieve a full charge but once charged it will run on battery power for up to 50minutes, which is a great amount of time.
At the price point of £35.99 the beard and moustache trimmer is excellent value, and one of the cheaper of this type of products on the market, but from two really trusted brands, which I wouldn’t hesitate to buy again.
Overall, this is an excellent product, at a good price point and perfect for the man in your life, who you never know what to buy. I would highly recommend this beard and moustache trimmer.
