I have seen Horrible Histories live on stage once before several years ago with my daughter and we had an amazing time, so when I saw another, different performance was in town, I knew my 9 year old son would be absolutely buzzing to go! He is obsessed with history, especially anything gruesome or funny, so this feels like the perfect show for him. When I saw that Terrible Tudors and Awful Egyptians were coming to Lighthouse Poole, I knew straight away it would be right up his street and we will have a great time watching it together.
From what I’ve seen before and heard, these shows are packed with funny, slightly outrageous facts that kids love, all brought to life with big characters, clever storytelling, and famous 3D special effects. My son is very keen to see Henry and all his wives, and how the Spanish Armada will “sail into the audience.” I’m not entirely sure what that means yet, but it sounds like the kind of moment he’ll talk about for weeks.
We are seeing the Terrible Tudors performance, but they are also performing Ancient Egypt, so you can choose to watch just one show or both! The idea of the meanest mummies, pyramids, Pharaohs, and the “nasty bits left in” sounds great for kids as it makes history fun as well as educational.
Even though we haven’t seen it yet, it already feels like the sort of theatre trip that will be memorable and full of laughter. We’re really looking forward to going together!
