Helix is a 13 part thriller, a Syfy Original Series, about a group of scientists in a huge underground high-tech laboratory in the middle of the frozen Arctic who have a disease outbreak. The CDC (Centres for Disease Control) are called in to investigate. They soon find themselves in a life or death struggle which could have a deadly impact for the rest of the planet.

When the doctors from the CDC, headed by Dr Alan Faragut (Billy Campbell), arrive to contain the outbreak of a retro-virus in the huge underground facility they find that Alan’s brother, Peter (Neil Napier), is infected but has survived but he is going around infecting other with the zombie-like virus. The infected are called vectors.

But there are other forces trying to stop them from gaining control and will stop at nothing to achieve their aims.

The CDC and the facilities staff are now in a life-or-death battle not only with the virus and the vectors but with the owners of the facility who want the virus and cure for their purposes.

Overall, the first season of Helix is a highly entertaining and engrossing series that is full of twists and turns, suspense, murder, mystery, missing children, secrets and lies. While there are lots of different subplots at no point do you feel you no longer know what is happening but leave you wanting more.

An excellent compelling and enjoyable series and I can’t wait for season 2.
