Crystal Flyers are the first-ever Hatchimals Pixies that can really fly. We were so very excited when our pixie arrived! The product came well wrapped and looked like something a young lady would like. It was also from Hatchimal so we reckoned it would make an exciting Christmas present. We removed our Crystal Flyers Pixie from her crystal egg and charged her with the included USB cable.

We did some research before she arrived and the ads promised that when she was fully charged, she would be ready to air dance. We would just have to switch our Pixie on and then we would watch as her glittery wings begin to flutter and spin. All there would be left to do is to let her go and she’ll magically fly – using just your hands to guide her. Lift your hands high and she’ll fly high, move them low and she’ll fly low.

If you accidentally touch her wings while she’s flying, it’s completely safe – with an auto-stop feature, she’ll stop flying right away. There are 2 Crystal Flyers available, Krystalina Rose (Pink) and Violet Onyx (Purple), each sold separately.

First of all we noticed the pink glittery outer packaging. Although pretty and nice, I found there to be too much unnecessary packaging and the fact that it is plastic isn’t very eco-friendly. However, we opened the package to check if it was charged and ready to fly and, after reading the instructions, we tried it out to see if it really did what it was supposed to do. The instructions were easy to follow and we soon had the fairy all set up, we loved how we can charge the fairy with USB so no need to keep buying batteries! The fairy charged up quickly and was ready to go. We were fascinated that the fairy really flies! We had seen adverts for similar products and the person flying the Pixie made it look real easy. In our case the Pixie took off properly but immediately flew off and crashed into the nearest wall. We tried again only for Pixie to fly up and then straight down to the floor. It was easier to control after some practice and after some hit and miss attempts! This kept my daughter interested for hours and she was really impressed with this toy. This is such a cool toy and super interactive! I’m so impressed with it and how clever it reacts to your hand. Make sure you have lots of space for the child to move around controlling/guiding it and definitely nowhere near breakable/expensive items! It is a fab toy and it is great that it does not need batteries and is USB charged which is included in the base. It does need to be charged before the first use, fortunately this doesn’t take too long.

Super fun to play with and trying to work out how to control. There was a lot of excitement and squeals of joy when it first started. It takes a bit of practice and some crashing into walls before you get the hang of it (the safety feature means it switches off automatically when anything touches her wings).

Very good quality and will make a fantastic present for a lucky child. I would probably recommend for slightly older children as it is rather tricky to control and needs to be grabbed rather than allowing it to crash. My daughter loves playing with her magical pretty purple fairy though.
