It is getting near the Christmas gifting season & every year there are several people that are just really difficult to buy for. You don’t want to waste your money on gimmicks and gizmos, especially with the current cost of living, but you do want to buy a thoughtful & useful gift. I was then really pleased to be given the opportunity able to review the HEROCLIP as from the description it looked like it might fall into this category.
The HEROCLIP is a combined hook & carabiner, which sounded intriguing, and something that I thought several of my family members may find beneficial being keen on camping & other outdoor pursuits.
When the package arrived, it was surprisingly lightweight for a heavy-duty product, but on further inspection it was partly because there isn’t any wasteful extra packaging, just the hook cable tied onto a branded carboard backing. I was sent the large size, there is also a medium, small & mini, all made from aluminium. There are several colours in each size including blue, grey & orange, my package contained the clip in “Hot Rod” red, of which the hook is red, but the clip is plain aluminium. The clip looks quite big on the backing but when removed, it folds round itself and becomes really compact & easy to store.
The HEROCLIP is effectively a carabiner & a large hook joined together with a central swivel joint. The joint can turn 360 degrees, meaning that it can fit in any space and turn any way to be able to hang your goods. They are super strong with the large size being able to hold 100lbs/45Kg so suitable for a heavy rucksack, a decent size torch/camping light or even a paddleboard or kayak. The sizes scale down to the mini which is perfect for keeping your keys or drinks bottle to hand and out of the mud but will still hold 40lbs or 18kg if you need it too. When the Heroclip arrived, I had just packed away my tent for the winter, but I could see it would be amazingly handy for camping, or overnight train journeys where there is nowhere to keep a reading light.
I must admit I initially thought that the hook may slip with weight on it, but it has a clever lip to keep it fixed in place securely & it genuinely doesn’t slip, even if balanced on something narrow such as the top of a door frame. It can be used both ways, clip & hang your item on the hook, or hang & clip the item on, so is really versatile.
I have been looking for something suitable for ages to hang my bridle on the front of the horse trailer & the HEROCLIP fitted the bill perfectly, I clipped it over the front bar, then hung my bridle on, where it stayed, nice & secure, even when driving, held in place by the lip. The best thing is, it’s not permanent, so if I need it for something else when I’m out & about I can just unclip it & move it.
In summary if you are looking for a perfect gift, take a look at the HEROCLIP, its excellent quality, strong, lightweight & versatile and sure to be a hit as one of the most useful gifts received this year.
