Divine is more than just a chocolate maker. It is a company based on ethical and moral principles. Divine is actually co-owned by cocoa farmers and they work closely together to mitigate the impact of climate change on cocoa production. They actively conserve tall forest trees, replace old cocoa trees with new seedlings, plant new hardwood trees and are identifying new or rediscovering old production practices to help adapt to climate change. They are committed to preserving the environment which is an important issue and most of their product packaging is recyclable. Their products are made using Fairtrade cocoa and sugar, Vegan, contain no palm oil or soya, only use natural flavours and ingredients and use 100% pure cocoa butter.

I was sent a selection of Divine chocolate products including Christmas Advent Calendars. The items arrived within 24hrs which is standard delivery and were well packaged. My kids faces lit up when they opened the box and saw all the chocolate. Think it’s every kids dream to be allowed to eat all the chocolates from an advent calendar all at once! The packaging on all the items looked simple but elegant and reflected the high quality of the product.

Divine Deliciously Smooth Dark Chocolate Advent Calendar and Divine Seriously Smooth Milk Chocolate Advent Calendar both retail at £5 each. The Advent Calendars both have an exclusive illustration by Stephen Waterhouse, who has designed the Divine Chocolate Advent Calendar for the last 14 years. The illustration is a more diverse updated version of the traditional nativity scene. On the dark chocolate version which is aimed at adults the illustration is simply gold and white coloured which is actually really stunning to look at. Behind each of the windows is a chocolate heart and an interesting world fact. On the milk chocolate version which is aimed at children the illustration is in colour. Behind each of the windows is a chocolate heart and part of the traditional nativity story day by day. After all the doors are opened on the back of the milk chocolate calendar there is a cut out blank christmas tree and cut out decorations to decorate it with. You can then upload pictures of your finished creation to social media or email it directly. At £5 each these calendars are slightly above the norm but still affordable. The quality of the chocolate and the details on the calendars make them well worth the retail price.

As a lover of more plainer chocolate I was intrigued to try the flavoured chocolate I was sent. These were:
Divine Smooth Dark Chocolate Orange Thins RRP £4
Divine Smooth Dark Chocolate With Pretzel and Caramel RRP £2.29
Divine Smooth Milk Chocolate With Orange Crisp RRP £2.29
Divine Smooth Milk Chocolate With Almond and Salted Caramel RRP £2.29
These definitely would not be chocolate flavours I would usually choose to buy but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice they were. I don’t normally eat dark chocolate as I find it quite bitter but the Divine dark chocolate was smooth and tasty. The milk chocolate with orange crisp just melted in your mouth and was simply delicious. The milk chocolate with almond and salted caramel was just the right amount of sweet without it being overpowering. The combination of dark chocolate with pretzel and caramel seemed rather odd but somehow it worked well. This was actually my husband’s favourite. The dark chocolate orange thins were gorgeously gooey inside and really moreish.

To compliment the chocolate I received a Divine Limited Edition Salted Caramel Hot Chocolate RRP £4. This was a real winter warmer drink and added a deliciously sweet twist to a traditional hot chocolate. You could really taste the rich caramel flavour. Simply add 2-3 heaped teaspoons into warm milk and stir. The jar is quite large at 300g so one jar will make plenty.

On the Divine website these products are just a few of their large varied selection. With milk, dark and white chocolate mixed with mint, raspberries, ginger, strawberries and lemon just to name a few there really is a chocolate flavour to suit everyone. Limited Editions, Tasting Packs and Luxury Advent Calendar are also available. These would make lovely gifts or treats for yourself. Delivery is free on orders over £20 or £4.95 for standard 24hr delivery.

With prices starting from £2.29 Divine chocolate is affordable luxury and definitely worth paying that little bit extra for.
