I received the bike to review just as the weather forecast was telling us we were in for a sunny bank holiday, so lots of fun in the garden was planned. The bike arrived in a cardboard box ready to assemble. I have to admit we are not the best at self assembly but this bike was so easy to put together, we did it in minutes. Instructions were supplied but to be honest we didn’t use them, it was all self apparent and you couldn’t get it wrong. There is also a tightening tool supplied which is handy if like us you don’t have any tools. Keep this tool in a safe place as you will need it if you need to make any adjustments to the bike in the future as your child grows.
The bike is light weight but at the same time very sturdy. It has anti puncture wheels and an anti-slip seat and is suitable for ages 2 years to 5 years with a minimum height of 85 cm and supports a maximum weight of 25kg. The width of the handle bars are 45 cm and the height from floor to handle bars is 54cm and length from front wheel to back wheel is 71cm. The seat and handle bars can be adjusted.
Once assembled the shiny red bike looked so cute we couldn’t wait to get it into the garden for a test run. Our child found it very easy to get on and off the bike without any assistance, it worked well on the grass as well as the paths. This was their first time on a balance bike and they got the hang of it straight away. We didn’t have to worry about the risk of falling off so were able to let the child explore the garden independently and just watch from a distance. This is an excellent way for children to gain confidence and improve their balance before progressing to a bike with pedals. The bike is so light weight and compact it can easily be transported to a park or other suitable outdoor area. I can already tell it is going to get well used throughout the summer.
Chicco is an Italian company founded in 1958. They manufacture a wide range of toys and baby products to support parenting which are now sold worldwide in over 120 countries.
The bike is available from pramworld.co.uk who also sell a wide range of toys and parenting products from many brands. It is priced at £24.99. Standard delivery is £3.99 or if your order is over £49.99 delivery is free. They also have stores in Stoke and Wigan. I would recommend checking the website for current store opening times and covid restrictions before visiting a store. You will also find details of the company’s price match policy on the website which gives the customer confidence that they are going to get a good deal from this company. We are now looking forward to many days of outside play.
