As a parent of a child who LOVES slime, I was very excited to open this product and have some fun at home with her. She was jumping up and down when she saw it so I was confident it wouldn’t disappoint. In the pack there is a pot of slime, a plunge ‘injector’, a ‘spy’ worthy decoder, a poorly pet and a medical diagnosis card. As anyone with children will know, they can be a little impatient; so when I opened the packaging I was delighted to find the slime was ready to go (no mixing or measuring required). This is the perfect activity to keep children entertained and promotes mindfulness, helps children focus, promotes independent playtime, assists with fine motor skills and it is very calming. Anything to calm my little whirlwind down is a winner in our house.

The idea is you have a sick pet, the pet has marks on their face and the child has to use the slime to heal and fix their new pet. The slime can be placed into the freezer for a few minutes to make it cooler as it’s the temperature that changes the poorly marks on the pet. First things first, what is wrong with the pet? Let’s use the decoder to look at the sticker on their tummy which shows a picture of a certain germ, then match this germ to a germ on the diagnosis card. This tells your child that the colour of slime in the set is the slime needed to treat their pet. So it’s so much more than a tub of slime, it allows them to use their imagination, my daughter named her pet and was talking to it and having a full on conversation.

The best bit was the slime, you use the big injector/syringe to suck the slime up and put it on the poorly marks to make them disappear. This can be done over and over again, with the gloriously funny noises that come with sucking up slime from a pot. Slime can sometimes be one of those things that we as parents want to stick at the back of the craft cupboard along with the glitter (it goes everywhere) but this slime doesn’t stick to anything, my carpets and sofa were safe!!

I think we are all aware of germs at the moment but did you ever think someone could invent slime that kills 99% of the germs on your hands? The slime in this set does exactly that, as they play with the slime, it kills the germs on their hands. This is a great selling point for this slime, especially if two children are playing together with this.

The Dr Slime kit does come in a lot of plastic packaging, the slime doesn’t last longer than a few days but the injector and the toy pet will last a very long time so we will be able to play with this again and again after buying more slime. This is definitely going to be at the front of our craft/activity cupboard at home for a long time. It would make a great present for children to give their friends at birthday parties but because it is such a good price this would make a good ‘just because’ gift.
