Hoover H-Free 500 Cordless Vacuum Cleaner Review

I am a busy mum of 3 with disabilities.  I run my business part-time as well as studying law part-time.   In the past I have known to be so exhausted and in pain due to vacuuming that I will take a break midway through a room or sit on the floor to hoover.  Neither of these things is ideal, particularly at a time where I, like so many other people affected by the coronavirus situation, have a lot more on my plate. I have 7 year old twins and so vacuuming tends to be a several times a day task.  This morning I described one of my twins as giving me a cake shower.  I was over the moon to be offered a Hoover H-Free 500 cordless vacuum cleaner to review.  It arrived very quickly and the gadget geek in me could not wait to get it assembled and plug it into charge ready for first use.   It came well packaged in a stunningly designed box.   It did not take me long to remove all of the pieces from the box.  I then followed the simple instructions to assemble the product.   The battery pack was really easy to fit, as was the part which holds the waste.   I found the parts really easy to lock and unlock.  One of the things I love most about my new vacuum cleaner is that it can be left standing upright when not in use, another favourite feature is that you can remove the battery pack and take it to near a plug socket to charge without having to move the whole vacuum cleaner to near the plug socket.  I did find myself asking ‘Where has this vacuum cleaner been all my life?’ before I even first turned it on to use.  Its design is stunning.  I love the red and black colour scheme.  For those people who prefer blue, it is available in a blue colour scheme.

When put into its parking position, it can be reduced to just 69cm in size.  Voltage is 22V.  It has a lithium battery and a run time of up to approximately 40 mins.  It is suitable for all floors, which is perfect for my home as I have a mixture of ceramic tiles, carpet and vinyl.    Whilst the bagless waste storage area is not big, I find it big enough to do a good few days worth of hoovering before  I have to empty it.  Because the smaller storage is necessary for the vacuum cleaner to have such a lightweight design, I would rather sacrifice the space for the lightweight design.  Emptying the vacuum cleaner is so easy and takes so little time anyway.   Now for my favourite feature, the dusting attachment.  I dusted my living room in no time at all. I love that the pole is tall enough to reach quite far away too. 

I am really impressed with the feature of the light.  It’s been handy for when vacuuming under the furniture and for use in dark corners.  The gadget geek in me thinks it looks really cool too.   The Hoover website claims that performance matches that of a corded vacuum.   I would agree with this claim.    Going back to hoovering under furniture, I find this product excellent for reaching those usually hard to reach with other vacuum cleaners crumbs right by the wall or underneath furniture.    It has been a godsend for vacuuming the sofa too when my sons have had their snack time.   The LED display is fantastic.  The LED glows red when you are charging the battery pack and blue/white when in use.  When the battery power is diminishing the LED tends to glow red, so I know it will soon be time to pop the battery back on charge.  As for how the vacuum cleaner manoeuvres itself, I shall describe this using just one word ‘wow’.  I was left speechless at the angles you can manoeuvre the vacuum cleaner into.   The intense floor roller is the accessory I tend to use most.  This works just as well on whichever surface I try it on.  The integrated 2 in 1 dusting and furniture tool and integrated crevice tool is a revolution.  I love how easy the brush release feature is, making the brush so quick and easy to clean if hair gets tangled around it for example.   I find the around 25 minutes of runtime that you tend to get when using the motorised floorhead ample for my needs.  The vacuum cleaner itself weights a lightweight 2.2kg.  I cannot believe the performance that comes from such a lightweight gadget.

The dimensions of this product are: width 252mm, height 1179mm and depth 195mm.   This is the best vacuum cleaner I have ever owned and I would wholeheartedly recommend it plus Hoover in general to others. It is perfect for every day use and even more amazing when used to Spring Clean your home or clean and declutter during the current lockdown.
