Frankie & Benny’s Trafford Centre Manchester Review

Reviewed by Rosemary Knight

On Tuesday lunchtime I went to the Orient at the Trafford Centre in Manchester to have lunch with my family at the fabulous Frankie & Benny’s. The restaurant is ideally situated in this very busy shopping complex, so it is very handy to call in for a meal while shopping or visiting the cinema or a bar.

As soon as we arrived, we were shown to our table by a friendly staff member and asked what drinks we would like. My five year old granddaughter was given an activity pack which kept us all amused throughout the meal, as we played games, coloured in pictures and covered the booklet (and ourselves) in stickers.

While we enjoyed our drinks, we took our time choosing from the new varied menu. My husband chose Rosemary Lamb Shank, served with mashed potatoes, broccoli, green beans, peas and an absolutely delicious gravy. I picked the scrummy Oven Baked Salmon fillet, cooked to perfection, served with baby potatoes, green vegetables and salsa verde. My youngest granddaughter was delighted with her portion of Wrap It Up Chicken followed by a yummy Ice Cream Sundae. My elder granddaughter is a vegetarian so she was very happy with her Veggie Feast Calzone, containing mushrooms, roasted peppers, sweetcorn, onion, tomato and mozzarella cheese. Our meals arrived very quickly and we found the portions to be more than adequate, as we struggled to finish, even though the food was extremely tasty. Throughout the meal, the staff were extremely helpful, checking that we had everything we needed.

Frankie & Benny’s is extremely family orientated. There were a number of parties in progress while we were there and we all sang along to “Happy Birthday to you” with the rest of the diners on several occasions.

The restaurant has a 1950’s Italian theme to the decor, with black and white photos of famous Italians displayed on the walls, and classic old pop music played through the speakers and is very atmospheric. Immediately outside there is a pond with fountains and Koi carp swimming around in the water.

I will certainly visit Frankie & Benny’s again with my family. I would recommend this restaurant to couples, families and anyone either celebrating a special occasion or just popping in for a tasty meal. I found the staff to be extremely welcoming and helpful and we had a very enjoyable time there.
