Write From The Heart Mini Backpack Review

Reviewed by Amanda Hayes

The new school year is upon us and everyone is updating and upgrading their kit, from colouring pens to school shoes, the shops are full of products tempting your children to buy. One of the things on your list is probably a new school bag and, depending on what you need to carry around, you could be looking for something suitable for a stack of books and kit or just a pencil case & notepad.

If you are looking for the latter than a small rucksack or backpack would be a perfect size whilst keeping all your child’s things in one place. With my son just starting Year 4 and having days that don’t need stacks of kit I was very pleased to be able to try out the personalised silver zip mini luxury backpack from Write From The Heart Keepsakes. Write From the Heart have the option of three mini back packs, the standard, in pink and blue (£20.99), the luxury in black with either a gold or silver zip (£25.99) together with a leather option (£49.99) and all can be personalised with either initials or full names. I was contacted very promptly to choose my personalisation, (editor’s note – the reviewer was doing a review so the ordering process could have been different for her) there are a choice of two fonts, either delicate script or times new roman, and 6 colours of embroidery. I was also reassured that the silver zip backpack is suitable for a boy as its is difficult to tell exactly on most websites.

When the backpack arrived, I was pleased to see and feel that the material was good quality and looked strong, it was lightly padded with webbing straps & top grab handle, and a separate zip pocket at the front for all your bits and bobs, bus pass etc. Measuring in at 35 x 23 x 12 cm and with a 6 litre capacity the backpack was small, but don’t be put off by the word “mini”, it was plenty big enough to carry pencil case, drinks bottle and a couple of books. I chose the blue embroidery in times new roman when personalising as I thought it would look more boyish but I think the delicate script definitely looks more luxury. That said, the embroidery looked very smart, in a light baby blue kind of colour. The zips and zip pulls are chunky and not flimsy, so look like they will last a long time.

If you, like me, have a son or daughter that manages to lose things all the time at school, then a personalised school bag is a great idea, and this mini backpack is perfect for those days when you need a smaller bag. I have also found it useful to carry a pair of trainers in, or swim kit. If I had one small criticism it would be that I would prefer a wider selection of colours than pink, light blue or black, something that stands out more on the school peg, eg green or purple.

A great size backpack that would suit school nicely but also an older child or adult for daily use, the bag would make a great personalised gift, if its in your price bracket. Write from The Heart also have many other brilliant, personalised gift items all with free delivery over £40.00 spend, so take a look at their website, you are sure to find the perfect present.
