I liked the idea of reviewing the ERA Protect Indoor Security Camera because it boasted the sophistication of a security camera with the convenience of a baby monitor. I liked the idea I could move it around easily and set it up for what was needed rather than a fixed system. I already have an alarm installed but I liked the idea of additional monitoring through my kitchen and onto the back garden. This would mean I can keep an eye on my home and garden and my loopy cat!

Inside the box you’ll find:
1 x Indoor Camera and Stand,
1 x Power Supply,
Fixing Kit,
Reset Pin,
Window Sticker

The camera set up was really quick and easy out of the box, it is mostly intuitive to set up although there is a guide and I love the magnetic ball connection at the back. This makes it really easy to install almost anywhere, changing the direction or making adjustments with ease. Plus it’s easy to make a change to focus on a new area. It can be free standing or wall mounted, again, I liked this feature for best flexibility.

Because the camera feeds a real time view I can choose to access the camera at any time and quickly access it when it’s triggered by motion and an alert is sent to my phone. It then begins recording.

I had a headache setting up the app. It should be easy and I can see how it will be easy for most people but a small glitch meant it took a while and a reset for me to get the ERA Protect Indoor Security Camera to perform how it should. A bit of patience paid off and I soon found I was able to name the camera, choose its purpose and I could see instantly where it was pointing. For some it truly will be a rapid set up. For others a little trickier but not too difficult.

I found the picture to be clear and easy to perceive. There’s 1080 HD resolution and built in night vision of up to 6 metres.

The camera itself is relatively small and discreet. Small enough to blend in with some modern décor but it isn’t a spy cam by any stretch of the imagination.

This is an extendable system, you can add more cameras and other parts of the ERA security range to create a more comprehensive system. However, the ERA Protect Indoor Security Camera is ideal for keeping an eye on an elderly relative, a baby in a safe environment or any area which might need extra monitoring as a standalone device.

It’s primarily soundless in use, there’s a small click which occurs when the device turns on and during a reboot. There’s also a more audible noise when switched off and reinstalled elsewhere. It takes around a minute for the app to locate it and begin the live feed.

You can choose to pay a fee and have greater storage for the recordings at the ERA Protect Plus cover plan if you choose, this information is available at https://eraprotect.com/products/era-protect-internal-1080hd-motion-sensor-camera and speaks of bank grade encryption of data (128-bit SSL security encryption). And then if the camera is vandalised or stolen the data should available in the cloud. Although some of that data would be held on your phone in the short term.
