Sponge Company Mixed Brownie Box Review

This week I have received a delightful ‘letterbox’ gift box to review. With the increasing popularity of these type of gifts I was excited to see what treats were within. Sending a ‘letterbox’ gift is such a simple way of getting unique presents to people – delivered direct to their door.
This letterbox gift was from the ‘Sponge’ company – a company based in Holt in Norfolk. True to the description the box fitted conveniently through my letterbox – ideal as it didn’t need signing for or for the recipient to be at home for delivery.
Within the outer postage box was a very bright box with a welcoming message. The inside of the box was personalised to me – adding a special touch.
As soon as the box was opened, a delicious chocolatey smell arose from the wrapped contents. When the enclosed packet was opened, eight mixed brownie pieces were revealed all perfectly presented and the aroma was amazing! A sticker on the outside of the package gave immediate details on any allergens and an accompanying leaflet gave very clear ingredient and nutritional information about each of the brownies.
There were four different flavours of brownie included – each one having their own visual appeal. The flavours were: Triple Chocolate, Salted Caramel, Raspberry & White Chocolate and Biscoff. The main dilemma was where should I start?!!
Each of the brownies was so delicious – moist and gooey with just the right amount of sweetness. The raspberries on the raspberry brownie added a good bite of sharpness to the rich chocolate. The Biscoff brownie was lovely and the crumbs of the Biscoff added a lovely texture to the brownie. Salted caramel is always a favourite and this one was no exception with gooey caramel, Belgium chocolate and hidden chunks of caramel within the brownie. Finally, the triple chocolate brownie was a chocoholics dream – a rich flavoursome brownie with delightful chips of Belgian chocolate. Everyone seemed to have a favourite but the salted caramel seem to be the fore-runner although I loved the raspberry and white chocolate as it didn’t seem quite as rich.
The Sponge Company certainly seemed to put so much thought into their products. An information leaflet within the box suggests letting the brownies reach room temperature before eating to enhance the flavour and to store them in an airtight container at room temperature – I’m sure that container would soon be emptied!!
Various brownie boxes are available and they fully cater for gluten-free and vegan clients. The company have received accreditation from the Coeliac UK Society and the Vegan Society who fully endorse their products. Gluten-free products are made in a separate bakery to ensure no cross contamination. In addition to the brownies, the company produce many other cake products – all available for home delivery. A fantastic product from a great British company. Their pride and passion for this product suddenly shines through with amazing culinary results.
A definite go-to company for future celebrations.
