There is nothing better for your child than exercising out in the fresh air, but those days when you prefer to stay at home or don’t have the time go out and about to the park, a trampoline is a brilliant idea for your garden. Not only is it great fun having a good bounce, its actually hard work, so without realising it the kids are soon having a serious aerobic session, tiring themselves out at the same time as having fun!
So, what do you do if you don’t have a huge garden or a large flat area? This is where the Hip Hop Junior trampoline from TP Toys works perfectly, as at 6ft it has plenty of room for jumping fun but doesn’t take up too much space. We have had a trampoline in the past, but it has had so much use it is way past its useful life, so we were really lucky to have the opportunity to put the Hip Hop trampoline to the test.
When the parcel arrived, it was in one large rectangular box containing 104 pieces and two fixing tools. You also need a mallet to erect the trampoline, which isn’t supplied. The box also contains a 20 page instruction leaflet, so you don’t have the difficulty of trying to download and read instructions from a phone or tablet whilst you are putting the pieces together. The first page shows a build time of 2 hours, it took my husband and son around 1.5 hours, and that it needs two people to build. You could do it with one, but it definitely is a lot easier with two. Before the assembly instructions start there is a useful safety inspection checklist, handily TP Toys have a spares department so you can buy any replacement parts, if needed, quickly and easily. The last page shows the details required to register for the 2 year frame, 1 year other parts, guarantee. The next 11 pages are mostly clear diagrammatic assembly instructions, there is the odd one where you need to double check things, but it is pretty simple to build until stage 11 of 15. It took about an hour to get to this point, then came the time-consuming stage of sewing the net to the base, which was fiddly and took about 20 mins. The last few steps were quick and easy.
Once erected the actual bouncing space is around 5ft as the 6ft size includes the padded outer edge, which is plenty of room for jumping and knee drops etc but for somersaults or anything fancy you would need a much bigger one.
We loved the look of the Hip Hop, with all of the padding coming in a lovely bright blue, and the net and base in black which is a really vibrant contrast. The IGLOO patented “door” we really liked, it wraps over itself, so you slide behind it to get in and out, it’s very safe and stops the door getting ripped on entry or exit or getting left open and a child accidentally falling out. The frame itself is strong galvanised steel which should last many years, but there are instructions to prolong the life of it should you ever get a spot of rust. The trampoline height is only 48cm off the floor, so its easy to get on and off without a ladder for the majority of children and has a good size safety net taking it to around 2m overall height.
The Hip Hop Junior trampoline is a great piece of kit for a small garden or younger child, and my son loved using it. Suitable from 3 years+ and having a max weight limit of 50kg (approximately 10-11 years old), its stylish, safe, easy to erect and £ per bounce its great value as should last years. Should you require a bigger model check out the website for their 8, 10 & 12ft models and order before 1pm, direct from TP Toys for free next day delivery.
