Tilly’s At Home Holiday by Gillian Hibbs Review

Both my daughters (aged 4 and 7) were keen to read this book, and found the cover illustrations eye-catching. They sat discussing what the tickets would be for.
Before we even starting reading my youngest daughter insisted on looking inside the cover at the illustrations and this got her very excited about reading the book. The illustrations are bright and colourful. I liked the fact that the author had chosen less traditional names, and my youngest adores the fact that Paris went to Paris.
I really enjoyed sharing this story with my girls and they both loved it because they expected Tilly to have a boring holiday because she wasn’t going away, and my daughter even asked why was her mummy taking Tilly to the library as it wasn’t as good as going on holiday. This book showed us that you don’t need to go away to have a magical holiday.
My youngest loved it when they went to the market and we spent ages looking at the illustrations and trying to find the magical objects Tilly found. My son (8) has also read this book and enjoyed discussing it with his sisters! He can’t wait to build a huge tent in the living room like Tilly.
A fabulous book that I highly recommend, especially if you’re not going away for the holidays.
