Thorntons have a huge selection in their Valentine’s Day range and I was lucky enough to try out a few.
Loveheart Chocolate Lollipop (28g) £0.95
The Loveheart Chocolate Lollipop is thick luxurious Thorntons milk chocolate moulded into the perfectly sized love heart with a loving swirl of Thorntons white chocolate. Ideal for the youngest of love birds trying to show that special someone that they like them. Don’t think that this chocolate lolly is only suitable for the kids though, it would be a great addition to any Valentine’s Day gift. Rating: 5/5 – perfect size, shape and flavour.
Caramel Hearts (71g bag) £1.00
Thorntons have taken their luxurious milk chocolate and added the most sumptuous caramel to make my bag of Caramel Hearts. Unfortunately, the presentation of the bag doesn’t lend itself to being a gift, it would have to be as an ‘add on gift’. But don’t let this put you off, the sheer enjoyment you get from eating these chocolates outweighs any negative points that can be found. Rating: 4/5 – Luxury in a bag, presentation let it down.
Hearts & Kisses £4
The most presentable of the chocolates is the Hearts & Kisses. Thorntons have placed chocolate truffles alongside their Caramel Hearts, they have also included the traditional Love Thorntons plaque that can be found in many of Thornton’s gift boxes. Unfortunately, this box of chocolates didn’t have the same Thornton’s taste as the other chocolates mentioned. The caramel in the Caramel Hearts was thicker and grainy and all of the chocolates had a strong taste of raisins. I’m not convinced that this gift should have tasted like this, especially after tasting the bag of Caramel Hearts. Rating: 4/5 – where the flavour lacked the presentation made up. Still tasty just not as luxurious as the bag of caramel hearts.
Overall Rating: 4.5/5
