The Three Pears Worcester Review

This meal was to be only the second time my partner Neil and I had gone out together ‘alone’ since our baby twins were born over 7 months ago! We don’t get out often anymore, and so needless to say, we were very excited about our meal!

Things didn’t start well at home when our baby sitters (my parents!) were half an hour late, but we sped over to The Three Pears and actually made it there 15 minutes before our reservation.

When we arrived there was ample parking, and we managed to park right outside the restaurant – just what I need on a chilly night! We went in and saw there was a lovely display for Valentines Day in the entrance, full of heart shaped balloons, so I gave my partner a nudge and a wink, and hopefully he got the hint! We only waited about a minute before the maitre de, a lady called Gianna, greeted us warmly. Despite being a little bit early, she took us straight to our table, which was a secluded booth, and talked us through the menu, explaining the specials and how the loyalty card scheme worked. She asked us straight away what drinks we would like and they arrived promptly.

Our waitress, a lovely lady called Macky, came over next and introduced herself. She too explained the menu, loyalty card and gave a few recommendations. We decided to have the dipping breads and oils whilst we perused the menu. These came beautifully presented on a wooden platter and were truly delicious.

We had a good look through the menu. As a vegetarian there weren’t very many choices for me, four to be exact – two particular vegetarian dishes and two meals which could be made vegetarian. Despite the lack of choices, I thought the range of what was offered was good, and we quickly chose what we wanted. Macky took our order. I ordered the camembert and bread starter and Neil had chicken and chorizo skewers. For the main course I ordered a tomato tart and Neil ordered chicken and pork ribs. Macky talked us through the range of chips on offer and the fact that they were bottomless! I opted for the ultimate chips and Neil had the spicy. We were happy with our order and the friendly manner in which Macky took it.

The starters arrived after about 15 minutes – a perfect waiting time, and were delicious! I am a bit of a cheese addict, and really enjoy nice cheese, which this was! The bread to cheese ratio was spot on! Neil enjoyed his skewers, and said it was just the perfect amount. Macky checked midway through our starters that everything was ok.

Our plates were cleared promptly and after another wait of about 15 minutes, our main courses arrived. Sauces were offered and brought quickly. My vegetable tart was delicious and Neil said his meat was cooked to perfection. Again, our waitress checked we were ok about midway through, and refilled my ‘bottomless’ glass of Pepsi.

Following the main course we both went for (separate!) toilet breaks. The toilets were easy to find, clean and fresh. They are obviously well looked after.

We were offered desserts and although I knew I wanted one, I wanted to have a bit of a break to let my dinner go down. Macky said this was fine, that there was no rush, and left us to it until I called her back over. I ordered a banoffee pie, but Neil was still full and declined dessert. Macky brought the dessert over and brought two spoons, ‘just in case’ as she put it! The pudding was divine – all drizzled in toffee sauce with fresh banana and cream. I’m afraid to say the second spoon was not needed as I managed it all myself!

We then ordered coffee – latte for Neil and I treated myself to an Irish coffee! These were beautifully presented.

We were relaxed, full and content following our meal. Macky caught Neil yawning and made polite banter about bringing him a pillow and we could stay for breakfast! We felt no rush to vacate the table and the whole experience felt relaxed – just what we needed.

The bill was brought quickly when we asked for it and we left a generous tip that was well deserved. Once again, the loyalty card was explained to us and I am sure we will be revisiting to collect those points!

I honestly cannot fault our experience. The meal was delicious, the service was flawless. We would go back in a second and hopefully we will do soon. I would totally recommend The Three Pears to others.
