I have been wanting to get my hands on a Hummingbird Bakery recipe book for some time, when the book arrived I was not disappointed there are 100 tempting recipes ranging from Marshmallow’s to Mississippi mud cake. The recipes are very American inspired which I now realise is the point behind the Hummingbird Bakery.
It is a bright colourful hardback book with a photograph of each of the recipe’s and step by step photographs on some of the more complex recipes.
I have made two recipes from the book both were delicious and the instructions were very easy to follow, there were no challenging processes involved and the finished product looked just like the photograph.
I had wanted to make some cupcakes but the cupcake recipes in this book are not your ordinary cupcakes (Jaffa Cake cupcakes and Blueberry & Amaretti Trifle cupcakes to name a couple), they look amazing but the recipes are very lengthy which put me off making them, I may attempt them one day when I have a bit more time.
There is a section at the back of the book containing useful information about different techniques, ingredients and equipment used in the recipes and tips relating to storing/freezing cakes which is great if you are not a regular baker, which I am not.
I would recommend this book to others but only if you have a very sweet tooth.
