I had never heard of this game until very recently when searching online for new game ideas. I was very chuffed to be offered the game to review.
When I first received this card game, I wasn’t sure if I would love or hate it. It sounded very funny from the blurb and like a game I would enjoy playing with family and friends. But, then on the other hand I wondered if it would be too silly and people wouldn’t want to play it.

I love playing games but due to playing the games I have, so frequently during lockdown, I have become bored with the games I already had at home. This game is a much welcomed addition to my collection. Especially, with Christmas and the holidays approaching. Hopefully, the lockdown restrictions will be lifted. I’m looking for to playing with friends and family.

The game has 49 cards, 24 pairs and one Dik Dik card (the card nobody wants to be left with at the end).  You need 3-6 plays for the game with the game aged at 16+ plus years. I think the game could easily play with younger teenage players. The game just doesn’t work with 2 players, I tried.

You take it in turns to try and pair your cards up by swapping with the other players. The fun starts when you are asking your opponents if they have a card that you need such as a ‘sticky willy’ or ‘bearded tit’. The names of the different things from nature on the cards are very funny and had us in fits of giggles. The fact that these are actual names made it even funnier for us. And even funnier when a friend or family member ends up loosing the game due to having the ‘Dik Dik’ card. This was a real highlight to the game.

The aim of the game is to get rid of all your cards and not be left with the ‘Dik Dik’ card. If you have the ‘Dik Dik’ card at the end of the game. Not only are you a ‘Dik Dik’ but also the looser. Double the amount of shaming for loosing the game. There isn’t an actual overall winner, just a looser.

This is definitely the funniest game I have ever played and my family agreed. It is as rude as the players interpret it to be.
I have bought it for a stocking filler for a couple of family members as they enjoyed playing so much and friends that I know will appreciate the game. It is the perfect stocking filler for teenagers onwards.

If you are shy or easily embarrassed you might feel a bit uncomfortable playing the game.

The cards are good quality with clear and bright illustrations. The deck of cards fits nicely into the box for ease of storage or transport. I liked that there is no unnecessary packaging.

The instructions are clear and easy follow. It was great playing a game that was super easy to set and play without over complicated instructions.

Over all I rate Don’t Be A Dik Dik 5/5.  The game is great fun and easy to play in a group. I also think it is excellent value and would make a fun addition to the games collection.
