The Lady Boys of Bangkok Edinburgh Preview

LadyboysLADY BOYS OF BANGKOK
RED HOT KISSES!

MWAHHHH! …with that extra Scottish zing! The Lady Boys of Bangkok return to Edinburgh in their latest sizzling and seductive production. Feel the temperature soar as the stars burn up the stage in ‘Red Hot Kisses’ their brand new show for 2014.

In an inferno of fun and frolics, this blazing hot production includes 16 of Thailand’s most beautiful and intriguing lady boys, performing a show like no other!

If it all gets a little too hot for audiences to handle, don’t worry – there are fully licensed bars to help cool down with an ice cold beverage, and if they get a little peckish the Sabai Pavilion’s resident chef will be delighted to ignite the taste buds with a mouth-watering range of authentic Thai cuisine.

Since the very first production of the show at the Edinburgh Fringe more than 16 years ago, the Lady Boys of Bangkok have become the country’s favourite touring cabaret show bringing their truly unique style of entertainment to eager audiences the length and breadth of Britain – from Inverness in the north to Truro in the south and from Newcastle to Belfast.

This year the Lady Boys of Bangkok are being sponsored at the Fringe by one of the most popular bars in Edinburgh – Cargo. Uniquely located at the Edinburgh Quay at the end of the Union Canal, Cargo boasts one of the biggest function areas in the city as well as canal-side beer garden Cargo is aiming to become the number one bar for students, sports and functions.

Executive Producer Carol Gandey believes there are many reasons the show transcends regional boundaries. “The main appeal is that it is a memorable fun-night out” she said. “It doesn’t matter where you live, everyone enjoys a party – and when it involves the Lady Boys of Bangkok, they bring the elements of glitz and glamour, fabulous costumes, show-stopping choreography, hilarious comedy, fantastic dance numbers and sheer spectacle.

“Also every season we produce a new show which always includes songs or routines that our audiences have told us they want. It is not a “request” show, but we greatly appreciate the huge amount of positive feedback we receive from the general public and will include items by popular demand” she added.   “Each show takes a year to create and I know our audiences are going to really appreciate and enjoy the new 2014 production “Red Hot Kisses”.

With more than 200 specially designed lavish costumes – everything from fabulous feathers to designer-inspired couture and not forgetting their own Lady Boys of Bangkok official tartan for the unforgettably rousing  on-yer-feet  Scottish finale  – the eclectic mix of musical genres includes movie hits, superstar pop favourites and a dash of country and western added to keep the party glowing. With more songs and production numbers than you could shake your hips to, the hits range from Moulin Rouge to Flash Dance and Grease  then at the blink of a mascara’d eye the pace changes as they glide through their unique Lady Boys of Bangkok tributes  to Kylie…Katie Tina …. Amy …..and even Robbie!  Oh Yes! The Lady Boys of Bangkok’s 2014 Edinburgh Fringe party starts right here!

From the moment they enter the unique ambiance of the specially designed Sabai Pavilion, the audiences leave their everyday lives and cares behind. As they step into the foyer they enter a small part of Bangkok…the aroma of freshly prepared authentic Thai food tempts the nostrils…the pre-show chatter as drinks are ordered from one of the two well-stocked bars …the laughter and excitement as people examine the wide range of souvenirs and gifts on sale in the boutique.  Many of the audience will arrive an hour before the start of the performance to enjoy a Thai meal in comfort, but others much prefer to eat, drink and watch the show all at the same time.

The audience is seated at tables of eight and are guided to their table by one of the staff.  Don’t be surprised to see at least one hen-party make their way to a group of specially reserved tables. We offer a special all-inclusive deal to hen parties which covers their admission, a meal, and a drink.

As the cabaret room lights dim, the excitement raises – the Lady Boys are back in town!

The curtains part, and there the full glamour, glitz and glory those fabulous Lady Boys of Bangkok – 16 of the world’s most fabulous showgirls – who just happen to be men! – launch into their colourful, sexy performance with their brilliantly stylised humour that is cheeky but never crude.

Artistic Director Phillip Gandey says “The challenge each year is to create a show that will meet the high expectations of our audiences.  The people who come to watch our show tend return year after year – they are incredibly loyal and we regard many of them as friends. We look forward to seeing them just as much as they look forward to coming to the show.  But we are all aware that it is up to us to provide not only the best entertainment, but plenty of surprises and a complete experience from the moment they arrive at the Sabai Pavilion until they leave. And this year there will be surprises galore!”

So what are you waiting for – avoid disappointment and book now for the best party night in town! MWAHHHH!
