Keeping skin clear and blemish-free is the holy grail. It’s easy to neglect our skin in our busy non-stop lives. To be able to take time out for a bit of pampering and a good facemask is the ultimate luxury at home. Over the years I’ve tried many many face masks with the mental vision of impurities being drawn out leaving my skin sparkling whilst my pores are shrunk down to micro-size. Then washing it off afterwards with a hot water flannel to then closely examine every pore in the mirror to check on the results.

So I was excited to be able to test out Amare Vita Afterglow Perfection Facemask. Just the name Afterglow conjures up lots of lovely images of my face looking like one of those filters you can apply on your phone; complete with the sparkly stars floating around it. The box lists the beneifits of using the facemask, which include reducing wrinkles and dark spots, relieving redness and hydrating skin. Great – all of which are on the top of my wish list. As with any other facemask, a thin layer applied to skin can be left for 10 minutes before being washed off. What I didn’t expect however was the little spatula that came with the mask to help achieve an even and mess-free application – such a nice touch. It has a little plastic handle and the spatula itself is a flexible rubber material which helps the mask to glide on easily.

The box also boasts that the product is cruelty free, Vegan, contains organic ingredients and is a sustainable product. All plus points for any products in a world where ethical production and natural ingredients are becoming more of a priority to consumers. The bottle is a lovely orange colour that actually matches the colour of the facemask itself. Which has a subtle scent of aromatherapy oils that bring on a feeling of relaxation and calm.

When it was time for a pamper, I used the spatula to apply the mask, which I thought was really effective and took no time at all. I have to admit the colour is rather amusing once on. Having an orange face did call to mind the umpa-lumpas and my daughter said I looked like I had sunburn. But all that aside, I enjoyed the pleasant slightly warming sensation of having the mask on my face. It didn’t dry out too much in that time which can often cause tightness and irritation – instead, my skin felt more hydrated. I washed it off and was really pleased with how my skin looked and felt afterwards. It felt soft and clean and my pores did look visibly reduced. Having just tried it once, I do believe that the facemask was effective and I look forward to using it again to see if the effects continue with additional applications.

Amare Vita Facemask is on the pricey side, retailing at £45 but is currently on offer at £31.50 (editor’s note – at the time of writing the review) and can be purchased at https://amarevitaskincare.com/products/the-afterglow. I don’t think I would pay this price for a face mask. That said I would be happy to buy it as a special gift for someone who is really into their skin care. As it is suitable for any skin type; it would make a great gift for males and females alike as a really special treat.

Rating: If you are looking for a little indulgence and a good quality product that can achieve The Afterglow to rejuvenate dull and dehydrated skin, then this is a great buy I give it a 4/5.
