Frenchic Furniture Paint Review

I am a keen recycler so was really pleased to be able to try 3 different types of Frenchic furniture paint to rejuvenate some old furniture that needed bringing up to date. Frenchic paint is an all-natural, chalk and mineral paint that has no added VOC’s, toxins or solvents and has virtually no smell. It doesn’t require stirring, shaking or the addition of water so you just open the pot and you are ready to go. The Frenchic brand has 3 main paint ranges, Original, Lazy and Al Fresco, and I was lucky enough to try them all. I tried the 100ml pots which are from £5.95 but there is also a large 750ml tin from £16.95. The small pot goes a surprisingly long way and is a good value way to upcycle a small item of furniture, such as a chair or shelf unit, or be sure of a colour.
The original range comes in around 30 different colours and I tried Grey Pebble, a medium tone grey, on a shelf unit that was waiting for a new lease of life. The paint glided on easily, covered well and on completion the brushes cleaned really easily with plain water. On completion, it can be sealed with wax, which I didn’t try, or left plain which looked absolutely fine.
The Lazy range has a lovely consistency having added wax so it doesn’t need a finishing coat. It also mentions no preparation required but to achieve a good finish on the gloss item I painted a light sandpaper really made a difference. I tried Stone Rosie, which was one of fifteen colours which are a mixture of vibrant and heritage to more traditionally French pale colours.
The third paint I tried was from the Al Fresco range, a weatherproof paint developed for garden furniture. I tried Ol’ Blue Eyes, a lovely rich light blue colour which looked fabulous on my son’s playhouse. It has now gone from tired looking to fresh and vibrant with hardly any preparation and a very quick application of paint. It was touch dry within the hour so I could get both coats done in an afternoon. There are six pale colours in the Al Fresco range including the blue, with a light green and lilac also featuring on the chart. I must admit that this was my favourite as it had much more depth and colour than the normal garden shades you can buy.

I was really impressed with this product, it comes in a large range of colours and is certified child safe (EN 71:3) which gave me peace of mind when using around my young son. The paint dries quickly and the brushes clean out easily with water. With a starting price of £5.95 and £16.95 for small and large pots, I think it is very good value for money and would not hesitate to recommend it to my friends and family.
