Next Base 112 Dash Cam Review

Reviewed by Jenny Seymour

I wasn’t sure what to expect of the Next Base 112 Dash Cam, but I do think it has made me a more careful driver as well, knowing that my every turn is being recorded (albeit facing out).

When it arrived, the packaging was attractive and compact, but also well packaged to ensure the case arrives safely and undamaged. The box makes it clear which model has been purchased, so you know even before opening what this camera can do.

The box also makes very clear the quality of the camera, how the camera is installed onto the mount and what is included in the box. The camera also comes with a mount, long power cable for the car lighter, USB cable and disc which includes the user guide. The box also includes a window sticker which states the car is protected by Next Base Dash Cam.

The camera itself is very compact and fits easily onto the windscreen with little distraction. There is a quick start guide in the box, which is easy to use and see from the pictures how to install the camera in the car. The final picture shows the cable being hard wired around the windscreen above the dash and up to the top of the window and that is the one thing I haven’t yet sorted. One of the new features of this 112 model compared to the previous version of this camera is that the “click and go” magnetic mechanism means that the camera can be free from wires. Therefore, I do need to sort that and will do when I take my car in for its MOT next week because that is where I think this cam can be so amazingly helpful.

The camera is wide-angled and gives an amazingly clear picture with instant video footage as you drive. Luckily, I have not had to use this yet, but in the event of an accident, this evidence can aid in an insurance claim as each video can be date and time stamped. There is also a camera mode, so that instead of taking photos on your mobile, you can use this dash cam to take photos at the scene of an incident as well. The camera comes with an SD card slot (Supports SDHC and SDXC Micro SD cards up to 32GB), not supplied with camera, where you can store up to 32GB of video and images, but there is also a feature which allows you to delete all videos and protect certain videos from deletion.

You definitely need a CD drive to use the user guide manual that comes on the CD in order to fully understand the benefits of this camera and the settings (is also available as online). Without it, you can still set up the camera and it will work as soon as you turn the key in the ignition. However, you should take the time to read the user guide and understand how to get the most out of your dash cam.

This Dash Cam can provide instant video and camera protection from intruders and assistance in the event of an incident. It has amazingly clear footage with all details clear and is a great little device for in the car.
