My son and I are big geeks and huge fans of Star Wars. We absolutely love toys based on movies and replicas. His Christmas list is full of toys just like this, so imagine how excited I was to get my hands on this Micro Galaxy Squadron RazerCrest replica toy.

This ship is well boxed, displaying the star ship itself and three figures. The figures included are Din Djarin, (the Mandalorian), Greef Karga and Grogu. These are all well painted with details of the characters, so you can tell who they are, and they are fully posable. Just what every child (and adult collector – let’s face it I wanted it too…) wants!
Each figure is around 2.5cm which is quite small, so a choking hazard for some, but at this size it makes the ships more accessible and portable. A bit like Polly Pockets. Because they are posable, they can sit in the cockpit or other parts of the ship. They can also fit into and onto other toys from the same collection. The top and sides open up, and little legs come out from the base to support the ship on the ground. Inside, there is a hidden character, sealed in carbonite. We were surprised and happy to find this within the ship itself. The starship, being made of plastic, is really light so can be held up with one hand and easily carried by a child.

The pieces are very small, and easily lost, but we found that a small Tupperware box was fab to hold on to them whilst they were not being played with. Because of it’s size and weight, they are very portable too.

What I absolutely loved was the amount of detail on the ship itself, it is well built and well painted. Featuring many details from the ship that the Mandalorian himself uses. This means that my son can engage in more realistic gameplay, which he adores. Sturdy plastic which is fab in a toy which will be played with by a seven year old. It stood up well to being dropped several times and so far, the doors and legs remain in tact. (often with toys like this, the legs and doors become weak over time, but on this there is no sign of that happening).

The only thing I would mention, was that it was a little difficult to get it out of the moulded plastic holding it into the box. I understand this is to stop smaller pieces like the doors from falling off in transit but I was worried I’d break it trying to pull it out. The recommended age range is 8+ due to small parts, however my 7 year old had no problems at all.

As well as the Razorcrest, there are other vehicles in the collection such as the Millennium Falcon, and an ATAT walker. These are all part of the Launch edition and more products will follow in the next wave of releases, so it really will be a fantastic collection for collectors and those who want to play with them alike.

You can find the replica RazerCrest here for an RRP of £29.99 which I think, for a set like this, is a fab price point.

Rating: I give this item 5 out of 5 stars. This fits perfectly in the toy market, but also the collectors market. There is a huge calling for collectables like this, and children love replica toys that they can actually move and play with. So this is so well thought through, I’m excited to see which characters and vehicles they release next.
