Biovene Barcelona – Pink Heaven Shampoo Bar Review

I’ve recently been making small changes here and there to the products that I use in an effort to make our household more environmentally friendly. My most recent switch was with my shampoo, the plastic bottles have gone and have now been replaced with a shampoo bar. I love the idea, its so simply and easy; no plastic packaging to be left clogging up the Earth for hundreds of years and they last much longer than a liquid shampoo. So as an added bonus there’s a huge saving to the budget – who can argue with that!

BUT it can be a hunt to find the right one and I was still looking, so when the Biovene Barcelona shampoo bar landed on my doormat, I was excited to give a try, in the hope that my search had ended. Did it meet my criteria? On first glance; the packaging was simple and made from recyclable cardboard – tick. It was adorned with lots of promising statements that would attract any green warrior including: palm oil free, vegetarian, plastic free, pH balanced, not tested on animals, dermatologist tested and sulphate free. Tick tick tick tick tick! The print on the box also claimed that one bar can last as long as one and a half bottles of liquid shampoo! All encouraging. BUT will it suit my hair? That’s the major question and there was only one way to find out.

The fragrance I received was called Pink Heaven and the bar certainly was pink! 40g and containing natural beeswax, shea butter, minerals, vanilla and essential oils of lavender & grapefruit. It made for a delicious combination and I absolutely love the smell.

Upon first use I found that it lathered up really well and spread through my hair easily. I’ve found by using shampoo bars that its important to get a good lather going in your hands first before adding to the hair. This smoothed through my hair easily and the smell was divine. This bar does seem quite special with an added feel of luxury. I often find shampoo quite drying which is why I can be fussy, but this really does suit my hair. Its nourishing and leaves it feeling soft ad manageable. There’s no need for conditioner afterwards.

Each designed to meet a different hair need. At £5.99 per bar, I find this a really reasonable price when you think it is equal to one and half bottles of shampoo AND it helps save the Earth in a small way. I wouldn’t hesitate to buy this shampoo bar again. It meets my every need and is a joy to use. In fact I’m looking forward to trying more scents. Whether you’re looking to do your bit to protect the Earth, save money or just find a great shampoo I highly recommend the Biovene Barcelona shampoo bars. It’s a 5/5 and no brainer!
