The Real Mcoy Kings Of Comedy Part 2 is on tour and stopped off at the Lowry for one night only this weekend and we were there!

Based on the BBC Television series that ran from 1991 – 1996 featuring an all black line up the show stars original cast members including Felix Dexter, Curtis Walker, Eddie Nestor And Mr Fraser. Playing to a near full house the first half was excellent, very funny and some perfect comedy timing. The second act not so good and I am sorry to say a little racist, (towards "white" people) don't get me wrong I am all for a laugh but this was a bit below the belt, with a mainly black audience you could see that it has a keen following and everybody seemed to be having a great time.

Although not a show I would want to go and see again it certainly appealed to its fans.

Another negative, not about the show but the Lowry itself was the bar situation, not enough staff and the ones who were on were not serving people in turn. I did point this out to the duty manager who was very polite, apologised and said that the interval was going to be a little longer so as to give everybody time to get their drinks. Towards the end of the evening the theatre began to smell very strongly of burning and smoke, people were starting to cough so I decided to leave the auditorium the manager was just outside the doors and assured me it was the fireworks at media city causing the smell, I am sure he was right but by this time I was ready to leave, and I did!!

I visit at least once a month and can honestly say I always have a brilliant night. Unfortunately not on this occasion.

Rating: 2/5
