The weather was wet, but my daughter, granddaughter and myself were on our way to London by train as we had been invited to watch an exclusive VIP screening of The Reef 2: High Tide.

The Reef 2: High Tide is a new animation film by Paramount, in association with Empire Film Distribution, directed by Mark A.Z. Dippe, starring (voices) Drake Bell, Fran Drescher, Andy Dick and Frankie Jonas.

We were at the Soho Hotel. The hospitality beforehand was fantastic – a child’s delight! Huge helium balloons in the shape of sea creatures dotted around, an entertainer who created octopi from balloons, face (or arm) painters as requested. 

It was difficult to know who the celebrities were as they and their families just mingled with the rest of us. 

Coffee, tea,  juice or soft drinks, mini cones of fish and chips, mini burgers, masses of sweets all over the room were available beforehand, then once inside the cinema boxes of sweet or salted popcorn.

Meghan waited patiently to have her dolphin painted on her arm and was on a sugar high from all the sweets as the film started.

The film was excellent, fantastic graphics with voiceovers that made us really believe the sea creatures were speaking. We had 3D glasses so the fish looked as if they were swimming amongst us. The animation was brilliant, the reef, fish and other sea creatures were so colourful, so realistic.

Could Pi defeat Troy once more and save the reef? The message came across loud and clear that all children can learn and we are all good at something.

The Reef 2: High Tide is an excellent film which I can thoroughly recommend for children of all ages.

We left the Soho Hotel on a cold wet Sunday afternoon to return to the real world outside with Meghan clutching her goodie bag.

Meghan meanwhile is wondering if she can get away with the dolphin on her arm for school tomorrow!
