The Rules of Love by Richard Templar is a must-read for anyone seeking to improve their romantic relationships. This book provides valuable insights into the complexities of love, and offers practical advice on how to build and maintain a healthy, fulfilling relationship. Templar’s writing is clear, concise, and easy to understand. He uses real-life examples and anecdotes to illustrate his points, which makes the book relatable and engaging. I wonder how his family and friends feel about some of the examples which can be raw and insightful in equal measure. I like to read them, it gives a real depth to each concept and makes it such relatable content, you’ll see some examples playing out in the lives around you. Richard Templar shows us how we can learn from this and choose to make different choices.

The Rules Of Love was originally published in 2009, now on a fourth edition and with a fresh new cover for 2023 and holding a a place amongst Richard Templar’s other Rule books.
The book is structured around a set of simple rules, there are many so it’s not easy to remember – though I’d imagine you’ll agree with them all. However, Richard Templar’s writing shines a light on each idea giving you an opportunity to solidify a concept and put it into practice.
One of the great things about this book is that it is not just focused on romantic relationships. The majority of principles outlined in The Rules of Love could be applied to any relationship, whether it be with family, friends, or coworkers. The book emphasises the importance of communication, respect, and understanding in any type of relationship.
The Rules of Love is not just for people who are struggling in their romantic relationships. It is also a great resource for those who want to take their romantic relationships to the next level or to prepare for the wider relationships they want to achieve. The book offers practical tips and strategies for deepening intimacy, strengthening connections, and maintaining long-term happiness. It will help you to sustain the boundaries of valuable and good quality connections worth sustaining.
I like that each section is short. It gets to the point, delivers the message, gives a give phrase and sometimes and example or cross reference and that’s it. No lingering concepts, no multiple examples to really drive the point home. And each chapter or rule is listed so you can easily access any concepts you might want to refer to quickly. There are 257 well packed pages to give you a clear outline for your relationships going forward.
Overall, The Rules of Love is a highly informative and enjoyable read and it isn’t hard work. It is full of wisdom, practical advice, and those real-life examples that make it relatable and engaging. Whether you are looking to improve your romantic relationships, or simply to enhance your connections with those around you, this book is a must-read. I would recommend it as a useful tool to anyone looking for a more fulfilling, rewarding, and loving life.
