Amanda Harrington The Face Set Review

With travelling anywhere this year being more of a dream than a reality my face is not looking its healthiest at the moment, in fact I look more like a ghost than a sun kissed goddess!

Resigned to the fact that winter sun is not going to happen any time soon I was very pleased to be sent the Amanda Harrington 3 Step face tanning set to review. I must admit I normally use a basic high street brand so I was very interested to see what difference using a premium brand, with a premium price tag, would make. The 3 step kit comes in a classy black mesh bag with a rose gold zip and a branded carboard inlay, clearly displaying the products inside and highlighting the 3 step method. The bag contains 3 items all in boxes, Face Mist, Ultimate Gradual Tan and the the Face Lifter brush. Also, in the bag is a glossy instruction card with three pages of diagrams and instructions, it looked quite simple so I was keen to give it a try.

Step 1 is Prep using the Ultimate Gradual Tan primer. The primer comes in a very stylish dark grey pump dispenser with white and rose gold branding. After a couple of pushes on the pump the primer came out easily onto my fingers and smelt really nice, with a light herbal fragrance. You need two or three pumps applied to your face and neck, before starting the process and 2-4 times every week to extend your tan. The cream soaked into my skin easily leaving no sticky residue and left my face feeling lovely and smooth.

Step 2 is colour. I received the middle of the range’s 3 colours Natural Honey there is also a lighter version, Natural Rose and a darker version, Natural Olive. The Amanda Harrington site clearly states the differences between the three shades and points you towards the right one for you. I would say I am probably more Natural Rose than Natural Honey but that didn’t deter me from giving it a try as the instructions state you can build up the colour gradually. The Illuminating Bronze Face Mist comes complete with a pair of latex free gloves which you need to out onto to protect your hands. To apply the colour you lightly spray the mist on to the super soft Face Lifter brush. The brush is 100% natural hair and feels very luxurious on your skin, it stands up on its own base so no need to find somewhere to put it and it comes complete with Amanda Harrington brush shampoo to keep it clean. Again, the mist took just a couple of pumps to get it working and it was easy to spray onto the brush, less is more here as its easier to add colour than take it away. With the mist on the brush you just work it around your face up into the hairline and down into your neckline.

Step 3 is Contour. Spray one pump of the mist onto the brush and you can use it to give you extra definition across your cheekbones moving from the inside of your face to the outside. Then blend across the forehead and jawline, the illustrations clearly show you where to apply, lastly blend across the neck area and leave 4-6 hours to develop. Although the colour develops over time you can add make up after 15 minutes of applying the colour.

I found the Amanda Harrington 3 Step Face Tanning Set impressively easy to use and the colour came out brilliantly, glowing and uniform without any streaks. The products themselves certainly felt like a premium brand and it was nice to have a bag to put them all in after use. Anyone that uses a face tanning product would be extremely happy to receive this a gift this Christmas, it looks and feels very sophisticated. You can buy all the products separately from the website, so if you know someone who uses it, or you think would like to try it, and the full set is beyond your budget you have the option to get just one piece of the set for them to add to.  A fabulous luxury present for the loved one in your life. Highly recommended.
