Adapted from the well loved children’s story about a little boy called Peter Pan who lives in Neverland. Peter, who has no mother, spends his days flying around and having fun with the other “lost boys” and his fairy Tinkerbell. One night he and Tink sneak into the bedroom of Wendy, John and Michael Darling and take them to Neverland, to join in the adventures with the other lost boys. This is when Peter is then forced to defeat his long time rival Captain Hook after he captures Wendy and the boys.

The stage layout was excellent and well thought out. It had fantastic backdrops and special effects. The costumes were also fabulous. The performances – particularly the flying and dancing – from the whole cast were great, and the children adorable. Scott Fletcher and Joanne McGuinness were very likeable and enthusiastic as Peter Pan and Wendy. Alex Bourne made a wonderful and very believable Captain Hook, receiving just the right (and appropriate) level of boo’s from the audience. But it was Greg McHugh as Smee who stood out for me. He was fabulously funny with hysterical adult humour. He and Des Clarke made the perfect double act; they were extremely amusing and engaging with the audience. The kids went wild, shouting singing, dancing and battling. The whole audience were on their feet dancing and singing on more than one occasion!

The King’s Theatre is a traditional small theatre in the heart of Glasgow City Centre with a great modern bar with very helpful, friendly and polite staff. The atmosphere of the theatre was lively; you could feel the excitement, and anticipation of the panto all around.

I really enjoying the production and evening, it really got me into the Christmas spirit. I would certainly recommend to family and friends, with and without children. Overall I would give an overall rating of 3.5 out of 5.

Rating: 3.5/5
