Stage Acts Entertainment’s smash hit tribute to one of the greatest movie soundtracks of all time, An Evening of Dirty Dancing: The Tribute Show is coming to the Grand Opera House in York on 9 March witha new cast and a re-vamped show, starring West End leading lady and winner of the BBC Radio 2 Voice ofMusical Theatre, Aimie Atkinson.!

Now in it’s 4th smash hit year, An Evening of Dirty Dancing: The Tribute Show is directed by Paul Spicer (Avenue Q, The Last 5 Years, Taboo) with choreography by Leanne Harwood (Mamma Mia!, Footloose).Dirty Dancing boasts the greatest movie soundtrack of all time and all the hits are here, superbly performedin this fast moving, slickly choreographed theatrical treat. Songs include: Big Girls Don’t Cry, Hey Baby,Wipeout, Do You Love Me, Hungry Eyes and, of course, the Oscar-winning (I’ve Had) The Time of My Life.!

Aimie Atkinson has enjoyed a prolific theatre career most recently starring as Penny in Carnaby Street The Musical (UK tour), Shelby Stevens in Steel Pier at the Union Theatre to great critical acclaim, and was thewinner of the prestigious BBC Radio 2 Voice of Musical Theatre. Aimie played the role of Amber in Legacy Falls (New Players Theatre) and Theresa in the workshop Blockbuster for Paul Nicholas. Previous to this, Aimie starred as Chloe in the original National Tour of the Take That musical Never Forget and originatedthe lead role of Luisa in the UK Tour of Zorro. !

Joining Aimie will be actor Matt Firth, originally from Leeds, Matt attended the British version of the fameschool, which spawned many well known celebrity performers such as Spice Girl Mel B, actress AngelaGriffin, Emmerdale’s Natalie Anderson & Andrew Potts from BBC’s Primeval. Matt went onto appear inWest End musicals including Fame and the Rod Stewart musical Tonight’s the Night. Matt was the face ofthe nationwide anti-drugs campaign Talk to Frank, which featured the voice of British comedian DavidMitchell. He has also appeared in Emmerdale and spent a season with the world famous RoyalShakespeare Company in their critically acclaimed production of Beauty and the Beast. !

The show’s producer Stage Acts Entertainment said “The atmosphere is always electric. There’s somethingabout this soundtrack that ignites even the dullest of days. We totally encourage our audience to get up anddance and sing and immerse themselves in the summer of ’63”.
