Oh how my life has changed, once upon a time I’d excitedly await the postman bringing concert tickets or new shoes. Now here I am ecstatic to be receiving the latest changing bag essential for my very first review. I received the Messy Clutch Bag in Olive Grey from Messy-Me. It arrived simply packaged in a polythene bag with manufacturer sticker fastening. For some this rather basic packaging may not enhance the beauty of the product as much as it could. However for others the simplicity of its packaging means there is little wastage for those of us who are environmentally conscious or for those who have to monitor their waste limits for the fortnightly bin collections.
The bag itself is an oilcloth clutch bag with matching oilcloth changing mat. It’s available in 4 different colours; Dusty Rose, Oil Grey, True Blue and Vintage Floral. The Olive Grey with star pattern that I received is very inoffensive and the colour and pattern is such that even my husband wouldn’t mind using it. Not sure pink or vintage floral however would be quite his taste.
The bag comes with a very clear set of care instructions on a piece of well present card that I’m most certainly likely to lose. I do wonder, seeing that the product does have the attached Messy-Me label both on the bag and changing mat, whether for the mums like me still suffering with the dreaded baby brain a year after the birth of her babies if a care label could also have been sewn on to the product to avoid worrying about losing the instructions provided. The clutch bag is of a good size and easily fits a couple of nappies, changing mat and a small pack of wipes. The bag and mat easily wipe clean and can occasionally be machine washed for a little spruce up.
For me this product has been really helpful on those occasions that you don’t need all the usual baby paraphernalia. One day a week I work just half a day, in order to go out after picking up the twins up from nursery I have had to take my usual changing bag which my husband lovingly describes as the great black hole. You can imagine carting this to work minus the babies always seems a massive inconvenience. The Messy Clutch Bag has been fantastic as I’ve been able to slip it into my usual handbag on those days knowing then I can go out for a little hour without the worry of a wet or dirty nappy resulting in an immediate return home.
The Messy Clutch Bag is priced at £17.99 and would make an ideal gift for the mum to be who seems to have relieved the local baby store of all the things considered necessary for the impending birth of their baby. The Messy Clutch Bag is not by any means a necessity but a nice additional product that makes life that little bit easier and the baby luggage we all have to carry round that bit lighter.
