So, when I was given the chance to do a review for ‘Society Socks’, I was very excited. I was very interested in the ethos behind the company as ‘Society Socks’ state that they are a bold sock company with a social cause, as for every pair of socks that are sold, they then donate another pair to charity – the charities they donate to include Engage and Change, The Covenant House and Young Women’s Christian Association.
I think that this is fantastic concept, as socks are apparently the least donated items and one of the most needed items of clothing and unfortunately homeless shelters only accept new socks, so it is much more difficult to donate them compared to other used clothing items. So, they state that by buying a pair of ‘Society Socks’, this will help change this as they are looking to create a positive change in the world.
So, when a parcel dropped through my letterbox, I immediately knew that it was my ‘Society Socks’ as they came in a brightly coloured black and red waterproof, robust, re-sealable packet with the company logo on the front.
When I opened the packet, the first thing I noticed was how brightly coloured and different the socks were to what I normally would buy as to be honest in the past I just buy cheap boring socks.
The socks were extremely soft to touch, were of a very high, thick quality and the designs that I received were funky, eye catching, brightly coloured and unique. I received 2 pairs of men’s socks, sized 7-13, one that was navy blue with a pale blue cuff and heel with ice-creams on them and one that was grey with a yellow contrast and green square design. I also got 2 pairs of women’s socks sized 5-10, one that was navy with green cacti on them with matching cuff and heel and another navy and bright pink.
Since wearing them, I have also washed them on a 40* wash as stated on the label and the socks have washed very well, they still maintain their colour, are still soft touch and have not lost their shape and this shows how well made they are and of the highest quality.
Looking at the website, www.mysocietysocks.com at the range of different socks for both men and women, there are socks for any occasion whether it be for work, for day to day wear or for wearing for special occasions and there are many patterns and colours as some are brightly coloured, some with flowers, animals, sharks, dots, stripes and many more designs.
You can buy socks from Society Socks in two ways. Either by purchasing the socks online or buy signing up to a subscription. By signing up for the subscription, you get a monthly surprise of 2 pairs of brightly coloured, stylish socks and then two pairs are donated to charity on your behalf and it all comes with free worldwide shipping which is a bonus, and this would also make a good unique birthday, anniversary or Father’s Day present for anyone. Also ‘Society Socks’ will even personalise and customise socks with company logos to help promote the company when out and about.
It seems to me that Society Socks caters more for men than women, as there are about three times as many varieties of socks for men. The price is £10 a pair which I think is a little steep myself, but I definitely feel it is worth the extra couple of pounds to spend for the quality of the socks and to know that you are helping out others less fortunate and I certainly will be buying my father a pair or even a subscription for his next birthday.
