Humble Bamboo Adult Toothbrush And Floss, Dentemp Oral Care Kit And Kelo-Cote Scar Gel Review

Dental hygiene is obviously incredibly important but isn’t necessarily something you think about all the time. However it is useful to see some of the different products available and see if any could be incorporated into a daily routine, and therefore I was really pleased to be able to try a bamboo toothbrush, floss picks made from plant material and an oral care kit.

Both the toothbrush and floss picks are from The Humble Co. which is a Swedish company that claims to offer products which are good for you and kind to the planet. The Humble Co. floss picks are made from plant based materials, are vegan and free from PFAS and BPA and the Humble Co. bamboo toothbrush is made up of a 100% biodegradable, sustainably-grown bamboo handle and nylon-6 bristles.

The 50 floss picks come in a recyclable cardboard box and as soon as you open the box you are hit with a lovely mint smell. The floss picks are sturdy and easy to use and they do exactly what they are meant to do by removing food debris from your teeth. Because they are so easy to use and are also a lot better for the planet than normal floss I will definitely continue to use these floss picks over normal floss.

The bamboo toothbrush also comes in a recyclable cardboard box and the inside wrapper is made from compostable paper which is great to see and on the back of the box it also mentions that the Humble Smile Foundation has carried out projects in vulnerable communities in 37 countries around the world. I think it is a good toothbrush and I love that it is eco-friendly (if you remove the bristles you can put it in your compost bin once you are finished with it) but I don’t think I would change from an electronic toothbrush to this, instead I would use the bamboo toothbrush when travelling.

The Dentemp professional oral care kit is made up of 4 dishwasher safe tools including a dental pick, a dental scaler, a mirror and a tongue cleaner. All of the packaging is plastic which after The Humble Co products is a bit disappointing but it is helpful to have detailed instructions on how to use each item on the back. It took quite a while to use the dental pick, dental scaler and tongue cleaner with the mirror (so lovely to see every part of your mouth!) as you need to regularly rinse out of your mouth after use but it was very satisfying to do. Out of all these products I will be incorporating the tongue cleaner into my weekly routine and am a little embarrassed that I haven’t used one before! Although the dental pick and scaler did make my mouth feel cleaner it did take a while and probably isn’t something I would use that often.

Another product I tried was KELO-COTE scar gel. This clinically proven silicone gel helps soften scars (including those from trauma, a burn or surgery) which is something I was really keen on trying as I had a scar from barbed wire on my leg. The gel comes in a cardboard box and once I had got the tube of gel out I needed to cut off the top bit (so make sure you have scissors handy!) The gel itself is clear and odourless and when rubbed in the patch stays slightly shiny but not sticky. I’ve only used the gel for a week so far and it does recommend using it for a minimum of 60days to see the full improvement.

Although I have yet to see the full effects of the gel it does look like it has already slightly softened it and I have high hopes for it after looking at all the before and after photos on their website.
